Phish on PBS

I really liked their music! I haven't heard much of Phish until Sunday night (only from my husband who was in a band with the drummer, Fishman, when he was in high school. He just found this out last month when he went back to Syracuse, NY for his 20 HS reunion!)

Anyway it was a great concert-documentary with interviews of the band's members. The concert is called "IT" Check your local PBS listings. Hopefully you can see it in your area

Phish rocks!!

Right on! How cool that your hubby played in a band with fishman in highschool. My DH and I have been into phish for a very long time. We were actually at the "IT" show in Maine last summer, we didn't see ourselves on PBS though. It was a cool documentary though, nice to see all the members of the band interviewed a bunch.

Very cool to have Trey say "when I walk out on stage, and see 70,000 faces looking at "ME" it's pure joy, the fact that we as a band can wipe away any problems for three hours while our fans dance and listen to our music!!" wasn't stated exactly like that, but that's how I took it! And he's right!!

WOO HOO! Anyone else going to Coventry? We're leaving Thursday morning 6am sharp!!

Thanks for the heads-up ...

Not a "Phish-head" but a long-time very extremely Deadicated person ... know a lot of folks who 'transitioned' to Phish after Jerry left the world, something I never did ... never transitioned to the Jerry-less "The Dead" either ... anyway, hoping to learn a little about them ...

Hey Inty-that's really neat that your dh played with fish! I always heard he was self taught but figured he must've had some instruction somewhere along the way.

Mooliette-If I could, I would (go to Coventry). You're making me jealous. We're doing the simulcast route (again). It was hard to not get tix for Hampton either. Oh well. At least we have Thu night. Some dude my dh works with is up at Coventry to do either parking or security and he said that Kid Rock and Sheryl Crowe would be there. I don't know if they will be just guests or actually playing either night, though. THen I got to thinking, they could do If I Could w/Sheryl singing the girly parts and that would be just beautiful...stay with me, til time turns over....if I could I would....ok, gotta go cry again......

Phishmama, that would be cool to see Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow there, we've actually got Tix to see Kid Rock in Maine in September. I'm sorry you weren't able to go to Coventry, at first I didn't think we could make it happen, last minute we did! Please dance hard at the simulcast!! It should be fun anyway!

Two weeks ago, I was 2 seconds from hitting submit to pay for Marlboro, Mass simulcast shows, but DH called and told me not to...lol However, they did just add the Maine theater in Brunswick for those that are in Maine, woo hoo!!

love2all - how cool your kiddo's were on that DVD, I'll have to check it out, we have that one..lol

Love2all how awsome that your kids are in the video and you found this out by chance right?

I saw a picture on my local paper of two grils trying to cover themselves from the rain when they were arriving at the Phish concert in VT. Muddy and fun!

I hope you guys didn't think that I was bragging about dh. He was very surprise too and proud I think.

No concerts for me this Summer. My last one was Sting and now I can't stand him : Hopefully in the near future we can see somebody well worthy. We are in notrthern CA so everyting is far away.

Good luck with your concert endevours

hey my ma was flippin' channels and I caught phish jammin out on t.v. I had to yell out heyyyy leave that on for a minute LOL. so needless to say I'm listening to it right now on PBS very neat show, and I like hearing each band member talk about their experiences too. I miss seeing them but I honestly felt like I outgrew Phish because it got kinda wild for me. Lots of drugs swirlin around. Hope ya'll enjoy coventry. It would definitely be worth it to see them ONE last time!~

OMG DH JUST CALLED AND..............
it is sooo muddy in coventry that the highway to it has been closed and the cops are sending people away telling them they can get a refund.
He said it is the muddiest thing he has ever seen (and this from a man who has toured for 20 years or more). He said the Homeland Security is there helping - the phine cut out before I found out exactly what they were doing.
People are being towed in to their camping spots and the vending area is completely unwalkable.
Rumors are going around as to when Phish will play because the stage is sinking in mud.....
kinda glad we are at home

Hey all!! JUst chiming in here!! We were at Coventry last weekend with our two boys (6 mos and 2)) It was great, crazy but great. We got in there on Thursday so had a good spot, not in the mud~
Waited in line for 12 hours to get there while they towed everyone out though.
Musically not the best, I think Trey has too much going on in his head..
The boys had a blast.

grateful-you faired well, then. So far, I think the worst I've heard was one of my buddies on I91 for 40+ hours. Then doing the 15 mile walk. then camping in the poo mud. Another of my buddies was a turner, poor guy! I'm glad we didn't put our kids thru that nonsense. Then I heard all the horror stories about the prolific drug use (hard drugs sold on the lots), the kid who od'ed on herion, rumors about what trey was on that wasn't emotions...........breaks my heart, really. The scene really did get too big and too ugly. From the simulcast, I just focused on the fact that this was the last time they'd be playing each of these songs and that they were emotional. I don't care what trey was on or how badly they (he) flubbed stuff. Page breaking down during velvet still haunts me all these days later. My tears were on my son's face when Page lost it. Camden was a good show. A nice way to go out as my last live performance with them. It was overall a good show. I enjoyed myself. I've been in some weird funk ever since-mourning and feeling loss-very funeral'ish. It's been hard letting go. 14 of my 32 yrs have been with them and now it is over. I better close before I bring down the house.

phishmama- we had a great time. The scene was good in our spot, lots of phamilies and a good time had by all. AS far as the hard drugs, I think it has been happening more and more over the years in the lots. I think with the kiddos we saty to ourselves and others with families and have a good time. We have our own scene and dont pay much attention to the bad stuff. That is why getting there and other places early on is key with the kids. You get a good spot and that can make or break the weekend.
One theory on Trey is that he is actually in recovery and having a hard time not on something, dealing with reality a bit. He definitly is not "on" musically. It is sad to think there wont be anymore.
"Now what" is on my mind. I am just so glad that I lived the life with them and the Dead when I could and have those memories.

I am glad you had a good time. That makes me smile. A lot of our tour phamily went up and they had mostly good reports on the situation. Much like anything else in life, it is what you make of it. Little Z earned his tie dye, lol-he was my tour buddy for Camden>simulcast, haha. The other two stayed with their nana.

I've heard more on Trey than I care to stomach. I mean, he's been up down and all around at tons of shows and never has there been such a ruckus over it. I guess that's b/c these were the last shows and a lot of pholks felt let down musically so blamed it on scapegoat trey since he was the one to decide phish was done. whatever. hate on him if you want, kids, that'll be that many less people annoying me at tab shows.

thanks for sharing your experience, gratefulmom. You really did make me smile, and that is something I haven't done much lately.

Right on Phismama, glad I brought a grin your way.
I agree with the ups and downs thing. I also relate to that with Jerry as well, somw shows he was not on at all, drugs or what have you...same with Phish.
I just like being there sharing that time with the band. Being Trey or any other member cant be too easy all of the time. Hey, we all have hard times with dealing.
Keep on smilin Phishmama, the music will never stop

Hey mamas,

I'm just getting back online. Took an extended vacation after Phish. DH and I did make it into Coventry. We thought we were in the clear with traffic and all by leaving Thursday at noon, little did we know we would be sitting in traffic 42 hours later. We were stylin' on I-91 as we had our RV, however the dissapointing news came Saturday advising everyone parked on I-91 to go home.

There was no way DH and I were going to turn around and go home, we had childcare for 6 days and it was the only vacation we were able to take off from work. So, we pulled the RV off the highway, and hiked in 15 miles. We were there for about 15 minutes before we ran into some friends from Maine that had an extra tent, sleeping bags, food and most important "beer" lol We had a great time, got really muddy and are extreemly grateful we didn't have to have the RV towed into and out of the lot!

When we got home on Tuesday and on Wednesday we went to Mass to see Prince...OMG, the best show I've ever seen. Prince put on a rocking performance.

When we got home Thursday we took the boys camping in VT, NH and back home to Maine. We were celebrating my 6 year old's birthday, ended the trip at Funtown/Splashtown on Sunday. It was an awesome two week vacation, I think I need a vacation from my vacation.

Thanks for letting me share my entertainment news...lol
