Anyone Glad to See Phil Donahue Back?

I am! Back in the day I loved his show. He also had some pretty intelligent, interesting conversations/discussions before the male strippers came along!

Although, hey, those male strippers were fun, too!

Any how, I was happy to see that he was coming back to TV. On cable.

Any other Phil fans out there?

Some "firsts" on Phil...firsts for me anyway:

*discussions about feminism
*abortion
*post-partum depression
*trans-sexuals
*is chocolate a drug
*Ralph Nader and food additives
*recyclables
*artist Denny Dent

I like Phil too. My grandma turned me on to him when I was a teen. I saw him interviewed a few months ago and I thought he had some really intellegent things to say about post Sept America.

I saw that he's coming back and I'm so bummed that I don't have cable. I may ask my mom to tape it for me. I always loved Phil!

Oh, I grew up with Phil. I think that on some level he helped to shape my liberal value system (my family certainly didn't).
I'll always have a soft spot for him. Too nad he'll be on cable though.

I watched last night. I ended up turning it off. While I love Phil, it looked like they just redid Geraldo's show with Phil as the host. I think I just wasn't in the mood for Iraq last night. I hope it isn't all going to be politics.

Yeah, I was disappointed in the format. Instead of one topic for an hour, he had four, which, with commercials, meant about 10 minutes for each guest.

The first segment, with four guests, talked about whether or not the US should take out Saddam Hussein and with everybody shouting over each other, I could barely make out anyone's point.

The second segment was the sister of the first casualty of the Afghanistan prison revolt which that guy -- can't remember his name -- the American who became one of the Taliban -- was part of. She basically was saying she was disappointed in his verdict, men his age are over fighting for our country, blah, blah.

The third was, IMO, the best. Phil VS Pat Buchanan on the Pledge of Allegience. Just the two of them. Phil pontificated a little bit, but brought out intelligent, liberal points. Buchanan said his bit. Both could agree to disagree. I would have liked to see that topic expanded and discussed, or perhaps just one of the others.

I didn't watch the fourth segment on baseball and steroid use. I guess Phil will be on EVERY night, but I'm not sure how much I will be able to view it. I don't watch TV at that time very often. Ah,well.

Also, before going to commercials there were commets from the people on the street. One woman said, if you don't want to say the pledge, if you don't like America, leave. So there ya go! :

So Phil IS back. Kinda.

Wish I had seen segment three. I love watching Phil and moral majority. I probably won't watch much myself, I didn't like the format that much.
