I picked up a ball of butter-yellow Nature Spun to make a soaker for one of my DH's co-workers who just had her first baby. I've knitted with Nature Spun before - a different color, and it was really nice to work with. Springy, dense and it still had a good amount of natural oil in it - that was a more "natural" color. Well, they must treat the daylights out of the dyed stuff, because this ball of yarn is like, literally, CRUNCHY. It's not pleasant to work with at all. It feels dry!

I've only gotten a little bit of ribbing done on this, but I'm ready to frog it and try using some leftovers from other projects instead. I'm disappointed, but since I've already knit from the skein, I can't take it back to the store where I got it.

Bleh. Anyone else had this problem with wool yarn? I'm sure it would soften up a lot after I washed and lanolized the finished product, but I can't bear to knit with it long enough to get the soaker done.
