John Taylor Gatto

I just started reading The Exhausted School. It's the transcript from the 1991 Seminar with John Taylor Gatto and a bunch of principals from different alternative schools talking about school reform. It's really good so far. The principal of one of the Sudbury Schools speech really made me want to go to one myself.

Has anyone else read books by him? He also did Dumbing Us Down.

Yes, I love Gatto's writing. His website has a lot of good articles published for people to get a feel for his perspective. I defer many homeschooling questions to that site to avoid haveing to get too personal. I'd like to read the thing you have though- I haven't seen that.

Phathui5, at your suggestion, I borrowed Dumbing us Down and The Underground History of American Education from the library and read them. Thank you very much; I really enjoyed both. It was timely for me in that it seemed to touch on and tie in a lot of subjects I've been thinking about lately. I do want to read more by him; he's got me hooked.
