SnapSetter?

Thread Starter
I am making fitted dipes for my 18m DD and will be making them for baby to be soon. I would like to do some with snaps. Will the SnapSetter work or am I going to regret it in a few months? I don't mind the extra work, but will the diapers hold up? I was hoping to spend my birthday money on some frivolous fabrics, but I'll put it towards a snap press if that will be a better use of funds. BTW, I already have the Snapsetter and several months worth of snaps.

Any suggestions?

I don't know if you already know this but I believe the Snapsetter is only for metal snaps. Those can be used on dipes but it is just heavier since dipes have so many snaps. I ended up buying the Snap press and while it was pricey it was well worth it.

I started with the snap setter, but after doing 24 diapers each with 14 snaps, I was pretty tired of it. They held up well, though, so I think it was a good buy. I'd rather do a few diapers at a time than 24 at once again.

If you're only making a few diapers, it might be less expensive to send them out to a wahm who will put snaps in for you. the diaper shop has a list of wahms who do that, it's only like about $0.10 a snap or something like that and shipping.

I'd send them out to a snap service personally. I bought a snapsetter and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the snaps - they held up pretty well, didnt get all chipped in the wash which metal snaps are prone to do, and certainly didnt come off. But the hammering was a pain and I just wasnt happy with the look of metal snaps on the diapers, I vastly prefer the plastic.

I bought a snap press in the end and havent looked back, but failing that I'd use a service.
