Felted wool sewing question

I have decided to make some breast pads for myself from felted wool (lambs wool sweater wahsed in hot water and dried on high heat).

I wanted to make the breast pads two layers thick (unless one layer is fine?) but am not sure how to sew the edges together. I have a sewing machine, with a fake serger stitch, but no walking foot, so chances are that the pad will not be terribly comfortable (wavy edge). Also, I am not sure if the edge created by polyester thread (using any stitch) will seem raw against sensitive breasts.

I have heard that fleted wool does not fray, so is it possible to sew the two layers of felted wool using a blanket stich and wool? or is this just too great a risk to take?

Thanks in advance,
Siana.

If I were you, I would just cut smothly and use a staight stitch with a 1/8 inch seam allowance (or, a 1/4 inch and then use scissors to trim it down). Since it won't fray, it' no probem and, a straight stitch will get 'lost" in the pile of the wool and you'll never feel it.

Sounds good to me. I am also thinking of buying some thin wool, and going around the edge with a blanket stich just to make sure everything is nice and secure (I also think if it doesn't get hidden, it will probably still look neat).

Thanks,
Siana.
