Hmm, that looks nice. I haven't tried the hip carry in my ABC but its my favorite position while using the ring-sling. I'd like to see what others have to say about it.
It looks very interesting! But is the hip carry the only position you can use it in? That is what I love about our pouches is that you can use them in so many positions -- wonder if you could do any sort of back carry with it?
Yeah, I saw it in a thread on TBW where she was asking it was something people would be interested in purchasing. It's really interesting! It looks very comfy, too.
I am always amazed at all the WAHM's who come up with all of these creative ideas and have all of these wonderful products! I wish I had that much creativity!
I have no idea if this can be used for other carries (I would assume not since none are listed) but as a mama to a child who constantly wants to be in arms and usually ends up on my hip I would consider it a worthwhile investment. I do love my pouch for it's simplicity, ease of use and for taking up so little room in the diaper bag, but I think this product looks a little more comfy for hip carries. The seat is padded and appears a little more gentle on babe's legs and of course the rings give a great deal of adjustability whereas with the pouch you only have the shoulder flip option. Also, distributing some weight to the hips would be helpful.
I think they're threaded the other way because she threads the rings when the baby is in position. I don't have my ring sling handy, or I'd try it, but I think it might be easier to thread backwards when baby is in the carrier. I really think she could be in trouble now that this is posted on MDC. I hope she likes sewing! This could be the hot new thing.
"RIght now the Mei HIp is in the testing
stage. When the other experienced
babywearing moms I have testing out the
slings report back to me, they will let me
know their opinions on versatility. When
I first created this, I didn't expect I would
be able to do any other hold other than hip
carry. That is what I really needed in a
carrier. However, I have had my son in the
back carry position in this carrier before
on my farm when I needed him safely
behind me. I will update this more when I
get feedback from my testers."
:LOL - sorry, just curiously lurking here, and you all 'piqued' my interest tremendously!! That's one cool lookin' carrier, although, I too, am on a fluff of any kind budget
