I am reading "Raising Your Spirited Child" right now and am loving it!

I constantly read and re-read that one! I also like her book Kids, Parents, and Power Struggles. For practical stuff, I like "Positive Discipline A to Z"- you can actually look things up and get very practical ideas.

Here Here!!!

Just want to second the Mary Sheedy Kurcinka books mentioned by Perogi and annettemarie!!! They are wonderful and mine are tattered and I definitley believe she covers all age spectrums in "How to Raise your Spirited Child" and there is a workbook that goes along with it (though I have to admit I haven't used it). So...can't recommend them highly enough!!!

I think that all these books give you tools for parenting children of any age. I'm not one for "methods" (as in, I use this "method" and only this method with my children) because I firmly believe (and have it proven to me every day!) that every child is different, every situation is different, every day is different, and you need lots of different ways to deal with situations. But these books definitely give a parent tools for any situation!

I like "Setting Limits with your Strong-Willed Child: Eliminating Conflict by Establishing Clear, Firm, and Respectful Boundaries," by Robert J. MacKenzie. It is aimed at children a bit older than yours, but I still think you might find it useful.

I just wanted to add that there is a yahoo group based on the book Raising Your Spirited Child- the group is called Spirited Kids- we get lots of great advice from other mamas who are going through it too. Not a book, but real life help. Hope that you can find the answers you need- my ds is so smart and a challenge in every meaning of the word, but is also the sweetest, most loving boy I've ever met. It's all about balance- and when I find it, I'll let you know!
