How do I work in the second color?

I found one site with some info, but it's not the clearest. How do I work in the second color, and make it secure? Isn't there a little loose tail?

you should leave at least an 8" tail on it-I usually do a couple of stitches, then go back and "tighten" the first stitch up and tie the old tail and the new tail together gently (no hard knots) and that keeps it secure. Then, when I am finished I just weave the tails into the back of the fabric-it's really easy peasy
