This is my first full complete quilt. I have made some smaller projects..potholder, placemat.

But this is the first actual quilt I made. It is for my friend's baby.

What do you think? Is it okay? Looking for feedback from someone who has done this more than once! :LOL

I love it! It's beautiful! Nice and squre--I love that you did it in bolder colors, so it'll transition from baby to toddler to kid. It's perfect!

I've been quilting since I was about 16--I'm almost 27 now. That's an ambitious pattern for a first time quilt! Good job!

I really love quilting - I am starting one for my mom for Chanukkah. It is a blast so far.

I always SAY that I'm going to make quilts for gifts, but I somehow never get around to it. I do a lot of quilting for the Linus Project, and I tend to go a leeeeeetle overboard on how many I donate. I dunno...I just love giving them away!

What block are you going to use for yoru Mom's? Have you been to quilterscache.com? She's got a TREMENDOUS block library.

The one I am doing for my mom I found in a book actually. I compulsively look at books in Borders. :LOL

I have several of her patterns at quilterscache.com bookmarked!

My big project in the making is a wedding quilt for my dad who is getting married next august. That one I might end up sending out to get machine quilted by someone with a big machine! :LOL
post #6 of 14
 I hear that! It's downright painful to quilt a large quilt on a regular machine. I've sent some out to be quilted before, and I'm generally happy with the results. Just never try to do it around any major holiday, or you'll never get it back in time!

I'm so not all about hand quilting. None of my quilts would EVER get done!

Yeah I hand quilted the baby quilt....damn but that took a long time.

Fortunately my dad is getting married in August...So i can send it out AFTER the holidays.

Wow. Then it truly was a labor of love! I hand quilted a BIT into some blank areas on a double irish chain ONCE...then decided it was NOT for me. :LOL

I'd be thrilled to receive that as a gift.

I think it looks fabulous -- I've only machine-quilted, but I can appreciate the energy that went into it. What a beautiful gift to receive!

Your quilt is beautiful. Actually, it inspired me to come check out sewing and crafts. I am reading about quilting and thinking of giving it a try on the next one.
So, far everything I have done is some variation of a patchwork and I tie-off.
What a special gift.

I just found this thread or I would have posted sooner.

My son is the recipient of this beautiful quilt. It is truly THE MOST beautiful thing we received and such a labor of love. We are in love with it and show it to everyone who comes over because it is so special and precious. We are sure Owen will love this quilt best of all when he gets older.

THANK YOU again to his wonderful Aunt Adina. We all love her very much!
