And how much will I need for a pair of longies compared to a pair of soaker shorts?

How much you need depends on the size. Usually a pair of pants takes 2 skeins. If you're making a large or evn larger I always suggest buying 3 skeins if it's custom dyed so they will match if you end up needing more than two. If you don't need the third skein you can always make a matching hat/booties/mittens or something with it

For longies I like softer wools b/c they cover the entire leg. either a merino or merino blend works good for softness.

Sorry, I meant to say for a medium(?) size pants. My daughter is about 19-20 lbs with pretty average measurements. Is there somewhere online to buy wool that you can recommend? I just moved to a new city and have no clue what's available here. So do you think 2 skeins is enough for a medium then? Thanks!

I know of two fantastic WAHMs off the top of my head:

Theresa @ Little Turtle Knits

and Jessica @ FabriConnection

HTH!

Yes, 2 skeins should be plenty for a pair of Meds. And I could reccommend somewhere, but that's against the rules :LOL :LOL

Sorry I had to hop on to ask another question.

Is 2 ply or 3 ply better for longies? Or does it really matter?

Depends on where you're buying it. My 2 ply is perfect for Longies, where LTK 3 ply is the one you'd want for longies :LOL

I've been wanting to try this yarn. Its very pertty. It gives prices in pounds, but you can also order in half-pounds, too. http://www.mysticalcreationyarns.com/WoolYarn.html

Absolutely gorgeous colors
But the catch is: There is a $50.00 min. order required

Has anyone tried their yarn?

Actually, it's my 2 ply you want for longies as well :LOL

Yeah, LTK 2-ply for longies and 3-ply for soakers. Two skeins for longies, one for soakers.

Now you have me confused Theresa :LOL :LOL I swear when we were discussing yarn I told you pants, you told me 3 ply :LOL :LOL
Just call me scatter brained :LOL

Nope, 3 ply for soakers, it's a light worsted/bordering on DK weight, and the 2 ply for longies, that's a heavy worsted/aran weight. Now, I've never knit with your yarn, but I've been told that your 2 ply is the soaker weight and the 3 ply is bulky, right?
