Oh thank god the boards are back up!!!!!!!!!!
Jasmine, I'm glad it went alright with the boob. Hot compresses will definitely not hurt, if they've left it open they want it to granulate in as the infection leaves. Use salt water, warm on a guaze pad and leave it on for about 10 minutes.
I couldn't wait to share the news with you all! I've actually felt like a human being since yesterday afternoon!!! For the first time in months, I did not throw up last night, I even ate dinner (not much dinner, I think my stomach has shrunk) but I ate a healthy dinner and it stayed down!! I had some cheese and crackers before bed and they stayed down too!! I got up this morning to normal blood pressure and major hunger!! Went out and actually taught a lesson, shopped at the farmers market, talked to some people and had a nice time even though it was hot and muggy outside!! Had to go into labor and delivery to meet my doc quick for her to follow up on the blood pressure and the first thing she said when she saw me was that I looked like felt better! Blood pressure was still normal after all that running around.
I have no idea if it was just a case of the nausea stopping or if the constant flucuating blood pressure was playing a role in the nausea as well?? I haven't had any gravol all day, but I did run in a litre of fluids only because it was so hot and I likely didn't drink enough while I was running around.
So the professionals in the group, do you think the blood pressure being under control is why I'm feeling THIS much better, or is it just fluke that the puking stopped at the same time as the blood pressure meds started??
How is everyone else??

Shannon! Fantastic!!! I wish I knew why you felt better, but really, as long as you do, that's what counts. I'm so glad you're getting better at last.

Joy, With my first, I gained basically nothing in the first trimester. Then I ended up gaining 27 pounds overall, and I didn't even have my ninth month. I'm only 5 feet tall, so 27 pounds looked pretty big on me, esp considering the baby was only 5, LOL.

Jasmine, I'm glad that you're not in too much pain, and that the infection is getting better. I would think that what Shannon says is correct, the hot compresses will help draw out the excess fluid and infection. If they only cut about an inch, you are more than likely not to have any trouble breastfeeding as soon as you heal up.

As for me, I added about $400 worth of diapers to my registry at naural babies. I must be out of my mind. But I think that maybe someone will buy us some stuff, and if not, we'll get some of it ourselves. I told my parents and in-laws where to direct people. When my daughter was born we got 5 quilts, and every stuffed animal in the Winnie-the-Pooh collection. Very sweet, but totally not needed. Okay, my dh sounds frustrated with my cranky nap-less toddler, so I'm off...

Joy, let your midwife know it could be worse, I'm still down 6lbs from pre-preg weight at 16 weeks. My doc said she was perfectly fine with even loosing 5 during the first tri, but that this far into the second, it should be at least back to baseline. You're at your base line, don't worry too much!! But do get some protein into you!

See, i gained 7lbs in my first trimester, but most, if not all of that was because from January until I got my BFP i was strictly following the south beach diet (i did lose almost 40lbs...), and as soon as I got my BFP, i started to eat fruit and grains again. 5-7lbs is normal for me the first month after coming off any sort of diet. Laura (my midwife's) issue was that at my 10wk appt i was 175, at my 13 1/2 wk, i was 174 and at my 17wk, I'm 175. She really wants me to eat more and to focus on the protein.

so today - I had about 2 eggs (its a frittata thing i make and freeze) with onions, bacon, spinach and cheese, cheerios, milk, cranberry juice. Snack of turkey/cheese rolled around some onions at 10:30, lunch of a turkey and cheese sandwich, chips and homemade salsa (and oreos, love oreos), another turkey/cheese rollup snack around 3, and for dinner I made chicken saltimbocca, pasta w/homemade pesto sauce, and green beans. And now i'm gonig to go have some oreos.
If i don't gain weight eating like this, then something is wrong. This should also really do good if i'm starting to have ketone issues.

I just got torked that when I told her I'm grazing all day and am just not hungry enough for a big meal she said that even if i wasn't hungry, i shouldn't starve my baby. I mean please, it took me 2 years to get pregnant, i'm not going to do anything to hurt this baby.

Yeah, fortunately my OB has never said anything like that, she told me before the baby ever suffered, my hair would stop growing and my finger nails would stop growing, stuff like that. Now my hair slowed way down from its normal growth but my nails never did. She said the only thing that will truley endanger baby is to be dehydrated. She did say the protein was far more important in the second and third trimester as the baby is building muscle and such. It's a good thing, cause honestly I'd have had a meltdown if I had to start feeling guilty about starving the baby on top of everything else that was going on!! She is concerned with getting me off these meds for my stomach though, the way things are going, it looks like maybe this week I can get off them! Otherwise, she keeps saying the body is an amazing thing and just seems to know what to do.

Hi Everyone, I'm baaaaack...(from my vacation)!

I've tried to retain everything I've read from this thread, but it's hard...had fun checking out the belly pics (mine at this point would just be pudge, but I am planning on documenting it, so I'll let you know when I start posting them), and glad to read that everyone is more or less doing well!

Shannon - yahooo, and congrats on feeling normal!! Let me know when you're up for a meal out and/or shopping!

I had a FABULOUS vacation! We had sunny warm weather (in a place that complains about the FDR - fog, drizzle, rain), went on a couple of spectacular coastal hikes, and got out on the sailboat twice! Glad to be home, though. Made some yummy homemade stovetop mac & cheese, and now a plain, full-fat yogurt...mmmmmm! Yup - appetite still up, and feeling good.

Was it Lesely feeling guilty about wanting a shower/attention? I can relate - today before heading out to the airport, we were at a gathering where there were a lot of mamas, and they all knew I was pregnant, and were cooing and congratulating me, and wishing me well...that's the first time I've had such a showering (pun intended) of attention over my pregnancy...it felt weird, but fun!

Great that you're back Heve!!! I'm glad you had such nice weather!!
We'll give it a week and then I'm sure I could stomach an outing or two!!
Does anyone else have a horribly itchy belly?? Steves been massaging cocoa butter and a nice oil into the skin every night for me, but it's still so dry and itchy. It seems to be especially itchy around my heparin injection sites, so it could just be a skin reaction to the heparin I suppose.
Oh and Heve, did you know that there is a Motherhood Maternity store right in Mississauga?? I picked up some great stuff that was on super sale last week, and at Val's office they have coupons for $10.00 off when you spend $50.00 on regular priced merchandise!! We can do a trip there sometime if you like as well, I'll grab a coupon for you next time I'm in at her office if you like--I think not till friday--I have to see her in labor and delivery on Wednesday.

Thanks Shannon - glad to be back!

nope, no itchy belly, but my nipples are terribly itchy, have been for a while...I've been using a cocoa butter blend and lanolin...sometimes they drive me nuts, though, and I scratch to the point of breaking the skin a bit...ugh...

There's a new Motherhood in Kitchener now - at least I think it's open. Maybe I'll go check it out tomorrow...Our hostess (cousin-in-law, if there's such a thing) gave me some of her maternity stuff, and their old baby monitor. Hmmm...which reminds me - the woman at work who is my size/height told me she'd lend me her maternity clothes, and she ended up delivering early, so I should be getting some from her soon!

Heve, Yes it was me feeling guilty. I'm good at that, I guess.
It is, after all, my second baby. Welcome back from your vacation! Sounds really lovely.

Shannon, I too have the itchy belly.

Ok, dh is almost on my sh*t list. We pulled up to the house and there was a huge box on our doorstep, so I said, "Oh, my scrapbooking stuff is here. I mean, I don't think that is my bra. It's a really big box."

And he says, "I don't know, your boobs are getting pretty big..."

And then, after dinner, I complained that I felt a little indigestion-y and he says, "Well, you only ate what, 8 tacos?" To be honest, I did have 5. but I was really hungry. And he should know better than to tease a pregnant woman about what she eats.

Lesley - I eat like eight meals/day :LOL I'm not kidding. I have four eggs before bed every night! Men are stupid. When I was pregnant with number three dh commented that some woman at work was pg and due like two months before me. "And she's way smaller than you are!" Whatever. Jerk.

My headaches continue. Allergies are a nightmare. And I"m ultra exhausted again. What's up with that? The second trimester is supposed to be energy time. I feel like hell all the time. At least I'm not puking but am still no use to the family. I need an energy booster of some kind.

It's looking like I'm the first one up and posting (alright so I've been here for well over an hour and a half) So I'll start this weeks thread!
I don't actually know how to post a link to a new thread, so just go to the main page and click on the new one in about 10 minutes, K??
See you all over there!
