Pea is my husband's nn for me (short for sweetpea IIRC) Rowdy because he says that's why our cat doesn't come near me.

I wanted to think of a more clever name, but the first few I tried were taken and I was dying to post about something or another... so mama2toddles was born. We call our 16 mo. old "Toddles McGuillicutty, Toddler Extraordinaire", or toddles for short.

Mami is how you spell 'mommy' in German. My mom is German and we speak German to each other so that's what I call her. I'm trying to only speak German with my girl too and teach her to call me 'Mami'. Btw, it is pronounced kind of like mummy.

Cheryl...cuz it's my name. And you can know me by that name.

If I tried to hyphenate everything my 43 years of being and 20 years of parenting into one name, I'd be "she-who-stands-adorned-by-kids".

It was totally off the top of my head. I have had an online identity in irc that I carried over to some online forums but I realized that was my chat nick, and not my mama name. Since my parents own an organic kava kava farm and my husband runs a kava bar, it was on the tip of my tongue. I liked how it sounded with mama in the middle.

Name origins

It's so interesting to hear where all your names came from!

Mine is a combination of my first and middle names. My name is Julie, and some family and friends call me Jules. My middle name is Melissa, which means honey or honeybee (or something like that!). So I just took the French for honey -- miel.

This story is a bit longer, though. I was trying to find a user name for Yahoo that wasn't taken. I had tried about 1337 names and then out of desperation I entered "violetmeadowblossom"-- purely a joke. Of course, it was accepted and I was stuck. I came up with julesmiel as an alternate identity so no one would know about violetmeadowblossom!

neat idea for a topic!

My name is sort of a "baby talk" version of Laura. My college friends always called me Wawa - especially after we went to visit my home in NJ and they all had a good chuckle at the name of the Wawa convenience stores. It just stuck. "P" is my last initial.

Not too exciting or creative... :yawning:

my first post, hi ladies!

We already had 3 Dodge Darts, and when I told dh we needed a bigger car for new baby (born 11/19/03) he bought me. . . A NEW DODGE DART! His excuse? This one has 4 doors! True, it does save my back with the baby bucket and all. So you see, they don't hand out minivans at the hospital! And everywhere we go in our vintage cars, people wave at us. It's like always being in a parade.

Ron McKernan of the Grateful Dead is my all time favorite member. A burly biker dude with a heart of gold, they called him "Pigpen". And lets face it...I'm a homeschooling mom of 3...my house looks a little like a pigpen sometimes.

Well, I used to be lolasmama, but then I had another baby, and it just didn't fit anymore. Besides, there's nothing I love more than a bargain!

Oh, but you HAVE to say/sing my username to the tune of Ozzy Osbourne's "I am Ironman." It's waaaaay funnier.

In "Diary of a Midwife", which is the diary of an 18th-19th century midwife in Maine, she had a neice named Parthenia. I really like the name. It means virgin, so I like the irony of being a mom (and so not a virgin).
