dilation and effacement

Ok... I posted this on the I'm pregnant board but thought I would post here too. I went to the Doctor on Friday and was told I'm dilated to a 2 and 50% effaced. My question is do you think I will go earlier than my EDD (September 12) or is it normal with the first one to stay dilated and effaced for weeks?! Anyone with any experience of their own they'd like to share with me? Thank you, Katie~

It is normal. I was dilated with my first for 6 weeks, my second for 8 weeks, my third for 3 weeks, and my last for 2 weeks....but I do know some friends that were never dialted until labor!

It is different for everyone...
