We are getting new carpet tomorrow, and a friend who used to do research on harmful carpet outgassing had these suggestions...
1. Stay out of the house while carpet is being installed.
2. Leave as many windows open as possible and use fans to increase air flow (not feasible for some winter climates, I know.)
3. Put a few healthy plants in the rooms you have carpeted. Some of her evidence showed that the plants showed signs of decreasing health before people were affected.
