preparing for homebirth

You always read articles about must haves for a hospital birth. What are some must haves for a homebirth? (aside from the general birth kit of course!). I am thinking meals in the freezer and sandwiches, etc. in the fridge. All my laundry done (hey! It could happen!) What helped you?

don't forget those bendy straws! you might not be in a position to drink from a cup etc and you should be trying to drink a fair bit, a sip here and there helps!

LOTS of towels - more than what you think you'll need

frozen meals, or at least everything on hand for quick0to-prepare meals

fruit on hand - I ate so many grapes after Lady Bug was born ! Help with your blood sugar level, rehydrate you fast, easy to eat, taste good and no prep or real clean up.

The bendy straws are wonderful !

I don't normally advocate plastic silverware and paper plates, but someone gave me a huge bag of these at my shower for my first and it was a huge godsend...hardly any dishes to do for weeks! And we don't have a dishwasher. At least the plates were compostable.

I am planning my first homebirth and am setting up postpartem help with friends and neighbors, playmates for my toddler, meals and general help.

I'll be making huge batches of sauce (for pasta, chop suey etc) and broths to freeze.

I found packing the cradle with diapers , onsies ect so I didn't have to leave my bed for the first couple days was terrific. I didn't have anyone to wait on me so i just got up to eat or drink (too bad I didn't have a fridge next to my bed ) And I coseep so I didn't have need for the cradel anyway but it made great storage!
