Using regular sugar as a facial scrub?

I had been using St. Ives medicated apricot scrub until I ran out yesterday and today I used just plain sugar mixed with some baby shampoo (and when the baby shampoo runs out I plan on using a nice natural face soap). I like the massaging feel of the "granules" when I used the St. Ives stuff, so I figured the sugar would feel like that and it did. But is it okay to use? Is it going to do anything funky to my skin? I see sugar body and foot scrubs for sale sometimes, so is it kinda the same? Anyone else do this?

I've used plain old white granulated sugar in olive oil as a scrub. I'm pretty sure it's the same as whatever is in the commercial scrubs. I've heard brown sugar is good too.

i'ev used plain salt in olive oil before, so I don't see why sugar would cause a problem?

I use plain salt on my body and baking soda on my face. Love the feeling!
