Committment to Excersize!!

ok, ladies I really need to lost some weight and get in better shape. Is anyone interested in making a commitment to excersize? I am going to commit to walking on my treadmill 5 days a week. I'm taking the weekends off. I'm starting at 30 minutes. I already walked today.

Anyone want to do this with me?? Let's help each other!

I started excercising regularly about 3 years ago. What a difference! I feel so much better when I'm done. Sometimes I have to MAKE myself do it, but be like "Nike" and "Just Do It".

I have a treadmill, but I don't use it very often. What I like to do is any kind of weight or resistence training. I have completly re-shaped my body. I Love it. I also do Pilates....FANTASITC!!!

But whatever you choose, stick with it. When you feel more energized and stronger, it won't be as difficult to do the excercising. Try different things, too. It's important that whatever excercise you choose, it's something you enjoy. That's the only way you will be able to stick to it!!

Good luck!!

Arduinna - I am with you. I probably won't start till Monday - since we have to finish mocing this weekend. But as of Monday I am right there with you - 30 minutes of walking 5 days a week - I am also going to do my 40 minutes of yoga /day cause my back is in bad shape....
But you have an exercise partner!!! Which is exactly what I need - cause I am lazy lazy lazy...

Oh great Adina!! Excellent. I haven't walked the last two days, I let myself get distracted with errands and stuff. excuses excuses. I do think it will help me to have someone to "report to".

I will check in Monday with my excersize report, lol.

NewMa, you bet you can join up!! The more the merrier.

Adina ~ I know exactly how you feel, I didn't get enough sleep last night, took a 90 minute nap this afternoon and forced myself to walk. Only got in 20 minutes because I started getting a weird pain. Hope you feel better tomarrow.

sorry to hear that you aren't feeling so hot, Arduinna. Get some rest over the weekend if you can!

You all have inspired me! I've been doing some crunches everyday! Well, except for today- but I've got a cranky teething almost 8 month old here so I'm cutting myself some slack!

Arduinna - part of getting in shape is not beating yourself up about not working out. So rest and feel better! Then when you feel better - you can exercise. No point in making yourself feel worse by exercising.

I haven't done so hot either - very very tired!! Hoping it is pg tired. Plus yester day and today were lovely - but Wednesday it was over 100deg!! No WAY am I walking in that heat!

It is a process - and it takes some time.
Good luck to all!

I just found this thread. Last week I started some basic at home strength/weight training. It's the only thing I can fit in regularly, because I can do an exercise whenever I get a chance during the day. It seems like either my 2 1/2 year old or my 2 month old disrupt any kind of regular exercise. I also do the Wiggles video dancing with my 2 yr old for aerobics when we get a chance (see The Wiggles topic in the toddler forum).

I've been checking out different weight training books from the library, looking for the right combination of exercises that I only need my body and/or dumbbells for. I'm not buying any bench or barbells. Any book suggestions?

I'm trying to shape up after 2 pregnancies. I tried to do a situp last week and realized that I have no abs left I can do about 3 situps now, which is better than none. I'd also like to lose that postpartum tummy pudge and fit into a smaller size again.
You've all motivated me. I need to go do a few more exercises for today.
