Is anyone trying to prevent stretch marks?

I have read some articles that say preventing stretch marks isn't possible, but I want to try!

What are you using?

So far I have just been using a nice lotion, but am considering buying the stretch oil from the Earth Mama Angel Baby link on this website. Have any of you tried it, or have a better suggestion?

Truthfully, stretch marks are hereditary. If your mother has them, you are likely to get them and there isn't much you can do about it. It's all about the elasticity of your skin. Staying moisturized and drinking plenty of water couldn't hurt though Good luck!

I have started moisturizing the trouble area. I got them last PG, but not too bad. I used cocoa butter semi-religiously. It's fun to let SO/DH massage it onto you, whether it works or not!

I didn't get ANY w/my first pregnancy .. But .. I had no m/s, no headaches, no overwhelming tiredness, et c.. Second pg I was hospitalised part of my first tri for severe dehydration due to hyperemesis .. and I got TONS. Drink water. LOTS of water. Skin elasticity starts on the inside .. no cream will work if your body isn't adequately hydrated.

Didn't have them with my first (okay, well maybe a couple little ones on my butt and boobs), and hoping for none this time. i love my bikinis too much, lol! :P

I got sooooo many the first time. Really, really bad. Toward the end, I could even feel new ones form! I used cocoa butter and aloe like crazy, but I think the fact that I went over about a week led to that extra bit of stretching that did me in! I totally agree with what others said about heredity and nourishing your body from the inside. I know I will be better nourished this time around (less stress, more opportunities to eat super well), but I can't worry about it -- my tummy will be seen by no one other than dh and dcs from now on anyway, lol! On the plus side, ds always tells me "I love your mushy belly, mommy"!

My first pg I didn't even bother trying b/c I knew they were hereditary. And I ended up with SO MANY (hence the screen name "zebrabelly" lol). Even on my legs and arms. *sigh* Later I heard that flax seed oil helps improve skin elasticity and whether it's true or not, I don't know, but I at least wish I had tried SOMETHING, you know. Anyway, yes I think if anything WILL work it's more likely to work from the inside out than some cream or something. *shrug*
