Still not sure I should join...questions.

Hi all,

I'm at cd 25 today. My cycles are usually between 28 and 31 days long. I took a test on cd24 (yesterday) and it showed a very faint positive pink line (its the FRED test). I also took a test with an ovulation predictor test b/c someone mentioned on this board that the OPTs recognize HCG as well as LH, because HCG is similar to LH. (Can anyone confirm this?) Anyway, the OPT was positive, and I am definitely WAY past the time of ovulation so there should be no LH in my system right now. So I am taking that as a positive, too. This morning, however, I got up and tested again, thinking I'd get a darker line on an FRED than yesterday. In my slumbery state, I held the stick with the windows facing out instead of towards me, and I got a negative. Now I am out of tests, and will have to wait a few days for the ones I bought online!

SO my main two questions are...
1. Can an ovulation predictor test also show the presence of HCG (i.e. a pregnancy) when used late in the cycle? and

2. Is it possible to get a negative test after a positive test, using the same brand?

Of course, time will tell...but I would SO love to be able to say I am pregnant for sure!

Happy babies to you!

The only thing I can say is maybe holding the test backwards effected it somehow or maybe you waited too long to read the first one. I know I've gotten a + when I waited past the 10 minute window to read it when it actually was a -. Good luck. I hope it's positive!

When i was testing very early like you are i noticed i got darker lines during the afternoon if i held my pee for at least 3 hours. Seems like i would have gotten a darker line in the morning but i never got one first thing in the morning until i was a few days late for AF. They have EPTs at most dollar trees. Cost $1 and are very sensitive. That is what i used and got my first faint positive 3 days before AF was due.

YES it is possible to get a negative after a positive this early along. I took a total of 18 tests this past month. Out of those i got about 6 positive. Between the first 3 positives i got at least 1 if not 2 or 3 negatives. If that makes any sence. I would recommend waiting until AF is late. I had the second most sensitive tests on the market...only ones more sensitive are the Aimstick and i still didn't get a real strong positive line until the day Af was due.

ouu thats early....youre just implanting right about now then i guess.....not alot of hcg yet....you can test + or - still on those things. by the time you get those other tests, your levels will be better.....just dont go using them all without a good morning pee sample good luck

Thanks

Hi Mamas,

Thanks for sharing your experiences with me in the crazy world of pregancy testing! I'm at cd 26 now and am taking your advice to wait for my tests to come in the mail AND to miss my period before I test again. Although I am dying to test. My boobs are super-full and sensitive and I'm bloated, etc...all the typical signs, but of course they can indicate an upcoming period, too! I am just letting go and letting what happens happen, with love in my heart for either path. Above all, I am focusing on my son, who is already here with me now! But being pregnant would be fantastic, too. So thanks for your good wishes and I'll let you know!

Laurie
