Calling all Essential Oils experts!

I'm just starting to learn about EO's and how to use them...I have a few now, some of the more common/most useful such as Lavender, tea tree, peppermint and Sweet Orange. I'm using them for a variety of uses (cleaning, body care, etc.) but now I am interested in branching out.

My two questions are #1: have any of you found any books that are particularly useful? As I'm searching for a good reasource, I am finding quite a few, but I want to get a good one and not waste my money. And #2: What are some less common EO's that you have found particularly useful in your life/home and how are you using them?

I hope some of you have some great ideas and input...TIA!

Sorry I'm in a rush. Here are two great resources.

A good book:
‘Aromatherapy: Essential Oils for Vibrant Health & Beauty’ by Roberta Wilson

A good website:

I love eo's!!! And I second Roberta Wilson's book. I have found it very helpful. Another great eo is Rosemary - very good for hair & skin. I add it to my shampoo & conditioner, along w/peppermint. (Sorry Aveda.)

Spearmint and grapefruit are my favorite. I use them as air freshener. And anything else I can think of.

This Q came up a few months ago. I totally meant to write it all down and didn't and have forgotten.

We use the ones mentioned plus eucalyptus oil in the bathtub for coughs. Just a few drops under the running water and close the bathroom doors to help keep the steam in.

Oh and obvious although no-one's mentioned yet...we add TTO to our household cleaner.

If youre interested in making your own household cleaners, CLEAN HOUSE, CLEAN PLANET has lots of recipes, most calling for essential oils. Thats what I use most of mine for. One is a discinfectant spray that uses vinegar, water and tea tree. Floor cleaners, counter cleaners.......I love to use lemon EO for those.....or peppermint.

I also use eucalyptus to unstuff a stuffy nose....great in the bath or in the bottom of a shower.

I really need to get this book! I have a similiar one (can't remember the title) that I like, but I have heard so much good stuff about Clean House, Clean Planet that I really want to check it out. So far, the cleaning thing is what i am using most of my EOs for.

Although today, I was feeling so draggy when I got up, that I took your suggestion and I put some peppermint EO (YUM!) on a wash cloth in the bottom of my steamy shower. It was awesome and it "pepped" me right up!
