Question for those who have finished Ember's shawl!

Did anyone else measure before they did the drop stitch to see how long their "scarf" was..I know the OP said to knit it to 72 inches then someone else said that was too long..

I'm working on this for my mom and I need to have it done by Wednesday night..So I really don't have much time to make it too long and then correct it..I gotta do it right the first time..

She's a M/L in clothes..I want the stripes to be a little diagonal but not too much..

Thanks!

I cast on 47 and knit until it was 58" and I would've liked mine a bit wider, but I'm tall (5'11" and large framed). I used a 15 needle.

I think the pp's (it's gorgeous btw!) measurements would work well for your mom.

Also, there is no correcting it if it's not right, just so you know...you'd have to knit it over or spend a realllllly long time pulling back up the dropped stitches and unbinding off (can you do that?)
Good luck!

I am 5'7" and I cast on 54 stitches, and knitted until it was 60" long.

It turned out exactly the way I wanted it.
