Anybody going to the chiropractor this pregnancy?

I've read it can help with labor and delivery.

I'm not a regular at the chiropractor, but last pregnancy I had a lot of back pain in my second trimester, and just suffered through it.

This time, I hope to prevent it to some extent. I just saw a new chiro for the first time this week and I just love her! I told her I was still nursing and we were talking about Mothering and all kinds of related topics. She's definitely a MDC kind of lady.

Anyone thinking about it, or tried chiro in past pregnancies?

I saw a chiro throughout the last trimester of my PG with Ds # 3. It helped immensly! I was suffering from the usual aches and pains but sciatica and pubic symphasis pain as well (one of the "perks" of being a multip as well as carrying big babies!). Within a week i noticed a huge difference!

One thing I would reccomend is that when seeing a chiro find one that puts the emphasis on correcting subluxations rather that just cracking your back. And anyone that uses x-rays as a diagnostic tool, you should avoid like the plague!

Once we are in 2005, because I can't afford to pay my ins deductible twice within 9 months, I will start seeing a chiro that i have recently met at a Natural Mothering forum.

I am incredibly lucky to have a chiro as a FIL. So, pretty much whenever I feel like it I get a treatment. He talks a lot about subluxations, and only sometimes actually cracks your back. He does BEST (Bio Energetic? Synchronization Technique.) It's really subtle and kindof out there for some pople, but it deals with your problems spots and your emotions, on an advanced level. I recommend this to anyone! Chiros can help out with not only the regular aches and pains, but for other things like fever.
I am blessed!

So, do you think the fact that this women wants to see me weekly throughout pregnancy, is too much? It seemed like a whole lot to me, considering I am only 6 weeks along and I don't feel that there is anything "wrong" with me right now. I am not all that familiar with the way most chiropractors work. I have only been to one, one other time before this.

Oy, I wasn't even thinking that my deductible would start over again in January. Egads this could be expensive.

once per week the whole pregnancy seems excessive to me. i go about every 2 weeks and i have lots of problems structurally! at the end i was going once a week i think. but i did go through most of my last pregnancy after being in yukky hip pain BUT i never had another real bad ache or pain after i started treatments. and i have heard from other mommma's that they were in pain!! and my birth was the best!!!!!!!!!! i can say that here right? it was fast, straighforward and i would say pain free. discomfort oh yeah and ouchies when she crowned but i would do it again in a second. i believe it was because of good midwifery care and exercise and definitely the chiro treatments!!

I didn't do it last time but I'm definitely doing it now. I haven't started yet, but I plan to go soon, as I've been going regularly in the past anyway.

When I had ds he was posterior, and although I was told it was not the best, nobody told me how painful it would be... so this time around I will do whatever I can to get baby in a good position since the beginning.... hopefully

It depends... the chiropractor that I was talking with recently said the frequency depends on how long you "hold" the adjustment. Yes, there is more visits in the beginning but it should level off eventually.

FWIW, I was at my chiro's office between 2-3 times a week when i first started going during my PG with Gabriel. I was about 6½ months and in some major discomfort with all my maladies.

Ohhhh, posterior babes.... I'm sure that we will talking about this once our little peanuts are big enough to worry about their positions, but the best way to encourage baby to rotate OA is to practice good posture ourselves. Those comfy recliners and over stuffed chairs are great big no-no's during the last weeks of pregnancy. Trade 'em in for a birth ball. Easy to sit on and very comfy in a variety of position during PG and labor.

Great resource for info about OP babes.
