Help me get motivated!!!

Okay, ladies. I need help. Yesterday I ate *2* Filet O' Fish, a side salad, a Parfait, AND french fries! YUCK! Today I am already contemplating getting a bacon egg and cheese biscuit. I NEVER eat Mc Donalds. I did this last PG - went through a small McDonald's phase in tri1, but I can't get in the habit of this. YUCK YUCK and more YUCK!

So, I ask of you, what are your easy, quick snacks?
I like hard-boiled eggs. Obviously a good source of protein, and if you've got them made, they only take 2 seconds to peel. I've been eating a lot of sandwiches, but I need variety.

Also, I haven't been exercising. I have a prenatal yoga video, but it's a whole hour long and when do i have a whole hour to myself. Naptime, I guess....??? When do you ladies find time to workout, and what do you do? How do you add variety, and what changes are you making since you've learned you were PG?
Thanks!

crackers and cheese, hummus and bread, carrot sticks and ranch dressing .. stuff like that I eat as snacks. Although last night before bed I had a bowl of oatmeal with raisins and milk. Yum!

I am addicted to Trader Joe's hummus with pretzel, pita, carrot... Just about anything goes with hummus!! TJ's guacamole is another favorite too.

With my last pregnancy, I would wrap cheese (a hunk of anything or string cheese) with turkey breast slices for a quick pick me up in the afternoon.

Having cut up fruit in the fridge (canteloupe, honeydew, grapes, whatever) is also a good way to try to avoid the carb craving, fried food monster!

I gained almost 80lb with my 2nd pg, mostly eating fast food and Stouffer's Mac and Cheese! I swore I would never repeat that again. Last PG, I only gained 35+lb and felt so much better for it! Just remember high protien, low/moderate carbs, and everyone as a general rule could stand to increase their fluid intake!

Happy eating ladies

Awesome. This is just what I needed. Ooh, pretzels and hummus sounds good! Yum. I love hummus, but sometimes I almost forget about certain things, you know! It's so easy to make, too! In fact, I have some garbanzo beans, YES!!
Thanks for the reminders, Desdamona. I do way too many crappy carbs.

You guys are a big help with the food, but what about the exercise ?. I'll go back and high light it, maybe that will get some attention to the subject...

I drink smoothies every morning that I make with fresh & frozen fruit, vanilla yogurt and spirulina. This morning I added a tad of blackstrap molasses, but that seems to be an acquired taste.

Exercise... Several months ago I invested in a few DVDs that range in length from 20 min to 35 min. I can't do longer w/ a toddler. I aimed to keep them active and easy so she could join me if she felt like it and sometimes she does for like 30 seconds... LOL Mostly she plays in the corner while I do it. I got the 1 and 2 mile workouts form Walk Away The Pounds by Leslie Sansone. I also have a bellydance and two hula workouts. Fun, easy, short. Well, the bellydance one is kinda hard for me Who Has No Rythem... LOL Otherwise great!

Food... I like to mash up avocado, salt it a bit and dip raw veggies in it. I make a shake each morning for breakfast (a homemade one, not like Slimfast or anything), and then if I'm still hungry, I eat more. Usually hard boiled eggs on toast. Trail mix is another favorite, filling and healthy. I get the raw mix which has coconut, sunflower seeds, almonds, raisins, dates...

i used to be a wellness director/instructor/trainer at the gym, so the gym is like my second home sometimes, which helps. i get dh to watch the kids (he made the baby with me...he can babysit while i try to tame the body :LOL ) my gym is 3 blocks away, so i brisk walk/run there and then throw on the country music and release some stress. if i left grumpy, i always come back happy and chatty....another point of encouragement for dh to watch the kids. i walk back leisurely to cool down and think happy things, since ive now got all that endorphin power. it makes me less sleepy and able to cope better. i leave at 6, after dinner (dh does the dishes) and am back by 730. i do this 3 times a week (down from 5-6x prepreg) its my Jenn time.

think of it this way....most women MAKE time for shopping for a new shirt, new breast pump, new book...whatever. when its making you feel good you find the time. sure you could cook clean SLEEP! but you can do it later too, and this is when dh should really be picking up some extra chores anyways.

in the long run think of it as saving you time and energy, and that ppl who are physically active have more energy to do all the other things that they do. its an RRSP for your body. theres my pep talk.

make dates with yourself and maybe find an activity buddy, unless they are the kind of activity buddy that will suggest skipping the gym and getting ice cream instead (MMM) i tell dh in advance when i will be going to the gym. the more i say it and plan it the more likely it is to happen. hope all that rambling wasnt too boring and maybe helped.

as for food, smoothies, yougert mixed with cottage cheese, fruit packed in juice (not syrup) sugarless pancakes with sugarfree syrup or fruit spread, the infamous hummas and sprouted grain bread, veggies (cucumbers rock) whole wheat english muffin and poached eggwhite with light cheese. i bake huge portions and freeze for snacks.

ive been eating too much crap lately too...peperoni and cheese, i baked an enormous lasagna and carrot cake...and dairy queen blizzards MMMMMMM
