Help me, I have a disease, it might be contagious!

I was hanging out with a friend of mine today who works for Ann Taylor and has much nicer clothes than my t-shirt with jeans wardrobe. I spent most of lunch eyeing up her cardigan, thinking how nice the heathered gray cabled sleeves would look as LONGIES for Jack! When I found out it was a cashmere sweater, I really wanted to swipe it from her. So yummy! Does she really need the sleeves anyway?

So a little later she was telling a story about how a bottle of perfume broke at work and stained her suede skirt, and she didn't know if it would come out. I immediately asked for it if it is stained because I am so sure I could still make a pair of SOFT SHOES from it! Thanks to Amber for this idea!

Luckily she likes me and knows I like her or she might think I am hanging around with her just for her clothes!

Is there a cure for this? I see possiblities everywhere thanks to this board, and if the amount of new fabric I own isn't enough, now I am saving old clothes to make new stuff. HELP!!!

lol I know, I have it too When I first started sewing dipes I would go though our give away clothes bag and read all the labels lol. I would get so happy when I found a majorly cute print in 100% cotton.
Now I actualy buy my fabric and the disease is getting worse.. I am obessed with buying the stuff. I'll walk through the fabric store only wanting to buy about $50 worth of fabric and I will totaly blow that budget! I keep going... "well, this is a cute woven, let me see if I can just find a matching knitt for the inside of the diaper." And I never get enough lol. I'm always like, "but honey, I need some baby blue flannel, I don't have any blue yet"

You are not alone. I think you ARE contagious lol.

LOL, I have to say I thought this was going to be about yarn hoarding when I saw the title!!

Yep, craftiness is a diesease, for sure. But, at least you get really cool stuff from it :LOL

here's our solution

i have the same problem. i buy fabric and yarn at a much faster rate than i use them. it can get out of hand and since we're on a really tight budget and don't have much storage space my husband and i came up with an idea. we got a big plastic tote for all my stuff and now i don't buy anything new unless it will fit in the tote. this works because it encourages me to actually make something before buying more fabric. i have another big suitcase full of old clothes of ours plus some things that i got from the salvation army...all waiting to be reborn.

I actually have a couple of cashmere sweaters I was thinking of selling. They are too small for DH. I hadn't thought of longies....

I recently got rid of a ton of yarn - a huge garbage bag full - and donated to our local senior center. DH was so proud of me when I showed him my tiny little stash in the big old Rubbermaid.

Of course, then I had to go around the house and pull out all of the new yarn I had stashed in the laundry room, under the bed, etc. lol He never figured out how that Rubbermaid filled back up so quickly....
