Debra Messing

I knew there was a reason she's my favorite actress.

Since there's a negative Denise Richards thread, I thought I'd start this one because I was so pleased to read good things about BFing in that People celebrity moms issue. Debra Messing talked about how it helped her get back in shape after the baby came (they all say this, but it's nice that she's speaking up)...

Also, not directly BFing related, I saw her on Live with Regis and Kelly this AM (caught part of it as DS changed the channels back and forth while teething on the remote... ). Kelly asked her if the baby's sleeping through the night for her (I think her son is 4.5 months or something?). Debra gave the same answer that we give when someone mainstream asks that question! "We're working on it", little grin, sheepish head bob.

She and Gwyneth make me feel better about being such a slave to the celebrity gossip.

SO good to hear! I was just telling DH last night that she HAD to be breastfeeding because we were commenting on how much larger her breasts looked on a commercial for Will and Grace. Nothing more wonderful than to hear celebs endorse it, knowing how impressionable younger girls can be. Its amazing how just one negative or positive comment can totally make a HUGE difference in a decision later on in life for some people.

Exactly what mikeynabbysmommy said...the whole thing in fact!
Go Debra!
BTW...Saw Gwenith on Oprah...she doesn't have a nanny either. I was so impressed!

Wouldnt it be wonderful if you could email them and tell them how wonderful you think they are for it? But then I would be afraid they would think I was a stalker Lol

I saw that int. this morning too.. I really like Debra.

It will be interesting this season without the 'flat chested' jokes lol. She is gorgeous and she is absolutely glowing

Kelly kinda annoyed me with those questions though, and i know she was joking but I thought made Debra uncomforatable when she was saying how when you have more kids they sleep though the night because 'you don't even hear them cry'

I think Debra's 'I should come to you for parenting advice' comment was a bit sarcastic lol

ITA with your whole post, I thought she looked wonderful!

What's was Kelly's damage this morning, she was going overboard with her 'mainstream mommy' act. She's not usually like that, is she? (I don't watch it regularly, like I said, just when DS happens to turn it on, LOL...)

I'm surprised, Kelly Ripa has been a big advocate of breastfeeding and talks positiviely about it and about nursing her own children??

WTG Debra! I love the positive breastfeeding talk!

I'll put her with Heidi Klum on my "celebrity mamas to applaud" list! I love hearing the positive comments on BFing from women in the spotlight.....

I just saw her a few minutes ago on one of those "entertainment news" shows (Access Hollywood, maybe) talking about "booby time". She said "Everything in my life revolves around when it's booby time!"
Way to go!

I didn't mean to say that Kelly was saying anything 'wrong' just the usual annoying questions about sleeping through the night which can make some mothers feel like 'wow am I don'ing something wrong?" when really everyone knows that they don't usually sleep through the night! why do people still ask? I guess it annoys me because people ask me every day....

I thought she was on the AP side.

She EN and I've seen many pictures of her with a child in a sling.

I could be wrong, but that was my impression of her, I don't pay all that much attention to the Stars. She sent a good vibe my way, so I'm sure others noticed that too, so thats a good thing

i was thinking the same thing--her lack of boobs is so often mentioned it will be interesting how they handle her new figure. [btw, is tonight the season premier?]
i think her breastfeeding is great in another way: she's a great role-model for other flat-chested mamas who are so often under the impression that size matters. LLL or some other bfing group should see if she'd advocate.

I remember seeing a pic of Debra and her husband and son out in the park when he was about 3 months old. She was wearing a rose Bravado nursing bra!! You could see the bravado logo on the back!

See I thought Kellys comments about having subsequent children was funny. I was so much less jumpy with my second even with the problems she had.

I think Kelly is a good mom AP or not. It doesn't really matter does it?

Good for Debra. She needs the *perks* of breastfeeding as well!

I like seeing celebs advocate BF because unfortunatly so many sheep care what they do. I think she was just trying to think of things to ask that the general public would relate to. And yes, I think Debs comment about advice was sarcastic.

Good for her. I watched the Will and Grace premier last night and she looked great! She looks so much more real than before more rounded and womanly. I have always liked her but I'll just kick her up another notch!
