Question about cleaning newborn- intact

I know we should not retract to clean him. But, our pediatrician today said that we should be sort of straightening out the folds until we just see the opening and rinsing with warm water. This doesn't seem right to me but thought I would ask here.

Also, she did the penis inspection which I will be telling her we would like to decline at all further visits unless we have a problem there we would like her to look at and inspect. Gosh, why is this a fight at every turn!

Nope, no need to do that. It may cause unnecessary strain and perhaps cause tears that would be an invitation for infection.

Wash it like you would a finger..... or a baby girl's vagina. There's no need to go inside her labia to clean her, right? No difference

I looked at the AAP paper and it is not specific on that point so what info could I show her?

I wouldnt worry about having to show the Dr anything. If you tell her NO then that is is good enough. She cant do anything you tell her not to do.

Although now that I think about it, if there is something that says it, it might be good to give her so that she wont hurt other intact boys. Let me see what I can find.

Not necessarily. I once went to a ped who said, "of course I won't retract him," then he went on to .........attempt a retraction!! (I grabbed his hand!!)
