I'm sad - not able to nurse during the day anymore. . .

This is one of my favorite forums to lurk in, although I don't post very often. Anyway, I just need to post to get this off my chest and maybe feel better.
This week I started back to work (haven't work in 3 years - my DH is staying home with our children however). But now that I'm working I can't nurse my 14 month old DD during the day, and it is just KILLING me. I got almost 10 hours without seeing my kids and I just hate it. As soon as I walk in the door my Bella does the sign for nurse and we snuggle for about an hour, then she's with me all night in bed, but it just doesn't seem like enough. I'm worried that all of a sudden taking away her nursing during the day will make her want to stop altogether, and it's just tearing me up. I leak all day long too, which just sucks - all that milk going to waste while my baby is home without me.

Anyway, not much of a point to this post. I'm at work right now, missing my kids, and just had to vent.

so sorry! But why are you leaking at work? Are you pumping? Is she drinking milk or breastmilk while you are gone?
And I don't think it will make her want to stop. She's old enough to know how much she really likes it, and how much it comforts her.
Hang in there.

Well, I always leak. She still nurses a lot when I'm home, so I guess that's why. I'm not pumping - thank goodness! I *hate* pumping!
When I'm gone she drinks water, or sometimes soymilk.

I feel ya. I have been back to work for almost 10 months and it still tears me up on some days.

Nursing is a nice way to reconnect when you get home. She won't want to stop don't worry. I know what you mean about not having enough time with her at home. I feel the same way.

Hugs!

I just wanted to give you <<HUGS>> and to tell you that I went through the same thing when I went back to work for 2 months when ds was 6-8 months old.

BUT, find peace, happiness, and joy that you ARE still nursing her and that you have the unique opportunity to reconnect with her when you come home. I would just get a glass of water, sit on the couch, put up my feet, and nurse for like an hour when I came home from work. We BOTH NEEDED it!!!!

That sucks, Mia. I've thought about getting a job and leaving dh home, but I'm not sure that I want to.
