Making microfiber towels into doublers

Thread Starter
I am going to get a package of microfiber towels at Costco to make into doublers/inserts for cd's is there anything special I need to do? These are going to be small inserts to go between the layers of hemp in my "quick dry soakers". I don't have a serger but I do have a sewing machine. Is fraying a big problem, what about shrinkage. Would 2 layers be good or overkill.

I have never noticed any shrinkage to speak of, but if you are cutting them, they will fray. I have seen em zig-zagged pretty effectively to use as inserts, though. I think if you are using 2 layers of hemp.. then 1 layer of microfiber would be fine for quick dry. They are super trim, so 2 layers wouldn't be any thicker for wear, but may not make it so "quick dry"

HTH!
