Need printables

My nephew is due to be born any day now. I've talked to my SIL about circ and her first reaction was "This baby WILL be circ'd." Once I told her that its not recomended she said she'd researce it more. I'd like to give her some papers to help her decide (read: persuade her not to cut). They need to be from reputable orginazations (AAP etc...) or she won't read them or take them seriously. Anything that says its not necessary and even how to care for an intact penis is what I'm looking for. I don't have a lot of time to poke around online to find what I need but I knew I could come here for help.

For an overall message, go to the top of this forum and click on the "Articles" sticky. You can also go to www.cirp.org and type "statements" into the search block and get the position statements of all of the world's English speaking medical societies. At that same site, you can find lots of research information that has been published in journals such as JAMA, Pediatrics, The New England Journal of Medicine and publications from the rest of the world. There is a virtual smorgasbord of information out there for you to pick and choose.

The memo from the CPSS is my favorite with a professional letterhead.

The AAP (America) statement is full of flaws and purposeful avoidance of important facts. (for example- the statistics on how frequently circumcision complications occur is impossible- they list twenty possible things, and just one of them (meatal stenosis) happens at a rate tremendously more than they suggest ALL complications happen.

D.O.C. has an interesting letter about why the AAP statement needs a tune up.

At the cirp website you will find the AAP care of intact penis information... the earlier pamphlet is a better publication than the newer one:
