Also posted at WoolyWonders in case you are there too.

Ohhhhhh these are incredibly soft and yummy. The yarn is bulky merino in orchid from www.handpaintedyarn.com. I am in loooooooooooooooove. I could knit underwear from this stuff and be happy to wear it.

This is my first pair of Wonderpants. They took me about three days. I really enjoy the pattern. The hole in the crotch thing freaked me out LOL (supposed to be there), but it closed up well. I really like the fit! This is the sm/med and Anika is 4 mos old.

Those pants are beautiful!!!
Oooh, I'm so happy to hear that you liked the yarn (I'm getting a whole bunch in and am sooo excited!). Was the pattern difficult?

And Lila (my 2 yr old) just looked at the screen and got all excited when she saw your *adorable* baby!

Oh Sabrina...you will love it!! I have a bunch more coming too! What colors did you get?? I also got some of the the bulky regular wool and it is great, but not nearly as faboo as the merino. Ahhhhhhhhh... This yarn is like the bulky equivalent to the merino blend at Holy Sheep - they are both super duper soft. Make sure to report back!

The pattern isn't hard at all. Lots of shaping. The really unique part is the crotch gusset. I have never done that kind of increase before, but it is really easy. Pam is VERY available for help at her forums in case you get stuck. I like that they are sort of wide legged - like boot cut sort of (depending on the cuff). Oh so stylish! LOL! These knit up so fast too.

I just got this color:
Ebay

and this one:
Ebay 2

I am also watching the orchid that's ending in a couple of days. After seeing yours I definately want to get some! I want to make a poncho for dd out of the Blueberries color and some longies out of the yellow/orange and also the orchid. I'm still keeping my eye out for one for my older dd. Maybe this one? Poncho?

Or this one?

Nice Ebay name! Hahaha!

I wonder - is it cheaper on there versus the site? I hadn't thought to check that out! LOVE the colors. That second one is super bulky, so I would love to hear what you think of it! The last one is the regular wool - I have 2 skeins of that and I fear it may turn pilly, but it is still nice. And delicious colors! I LOVE the potential poncho color! That is beautiful!!! Make sure to report back!!!

I have talked with the owner (I think?) and he is super nice! He said he is low on the bulky merino until the can place a new big order though - he better not run out on me! LOL!

I've noticed that the ones on ebay and the ones on the site don't differ *too* much in price, but there are some colors offered on ebay that aren't offered in the store and vice-versa.
And I agree, he really is nice. I emailed him to ask if it was ok to wait to pay until I finished bidding on the ones I wanted, and he said to take as much time as I needed, especially with an ebay name like mine. :LOL But really, he seems very nice.

Once I get them in, I'll definately lyk what I think. They colors are just so nice, I couldn't resist. And the site has some really nice colors, you should check it out. I LOVE the rich earth!

Oh, and don't even ask about all the yarn I'm getting in from teh Fabric Connection! I have projects out the...well, you get the idea.

which pattern

I looked at the woolywonders website, but didn't see which pattern you used. I just love what you did and have been thinking of making long pants for my ds. I only saw soakers and shorts on the website; can you help me find the longies?
thanks

Sure! It is the Wonderpants pattern here: http://woolywonder.com/store/index.p...8cd8918366924a

Short or pants or capris or whatever you choose. They all are made from the same pattern. Make sure to check out her forums too: www.woolywonder.com/forums

OMG, Laura. I just bought the pattern, like I needed it. lol Yours are sooo beautiful, I had to.

I also just finished some handpaintedyarn longies! I was going to post about them today and ask if anyone else had used this yarn and how well it works for soaking. Lmk what your experience is with the bulky. The ones I just finished are in worsted weight merino, but I'm also working on a pair in bulky violetas merino (yum!), and there's a pic of them in my blog.

Anyhow, here they are!

And, of course, I'm waiting on some more bulky merino in the mail (some from handpaintedyarn and some from fabriconnection.com), and still cruising handpaintedyarn.com every hour or so. lol I'm a real junky. I *really* want to try the super bulky. If anyone has used it and the regular bulky merino, please tell how they compair!

Thanks guys, just what I needed to see on an early Sunday morning! Talk about being a junkie, I am off to scour the yarn site for colors. And of course I must have that pattern as well!

BTW, your babes are so cute in their longies!

I agree. Laura those are beeeautiful pants! I'm gonna have to buy that pattern - like I need more knitting projects LOL.

Too cute!!! Great job!! I'm looking for dipes I don't need to sell so I can buy some yarn and the materials to make those longies..TOO cute!!!

Where do you get those 40 inch #9 needles..Don't think Walmart would have em!
wow! beautiful! i might need some of that wool too.
and i just might need another pattern...
Those are way cute!

I've been trying to convince myself that I don't need yarn from there... but it's looking like I'm too tempted looking at those longies and listenin' to all the raves. Will one skein do a pair of size small LTK longies? I'm thinking I want the worsted weight merino rather than the bulky, cause it will match the gauge needed better...
Annette,

Now that I've finished a pair in bulky and a pair in merino, I'd really recommend the bulky for soakers. The worsted is so soft that it just doesn't hold its shape enough. It's hard to explain, but it's almost like it can't support its own weight. I think it would make a gorgeous scarf, but I won't use it for another pair of longies. The buly, otoh, is awsome for longies. If I was you, I'd do the math to fit the larger guage to your pattern.

Thanks.. this kind of stuff is very good to know when you're ordering stuff based on pictures... so will one skein of the bulky be enough for a small pair of longies? My new babe will be BIG, and I'm thinking a small will fit out of the hospital, and I'll splurge on the handpainted yarn for his first set of longies.
I think you would probably need a little more than one skein for even small longies. The ones I made were 22 inches around and 15 inches long and I almost finished the second skein. I think one skein would definately make a small soaker and just barely make a medium one. But if you buy two for small longies, I bet you'd have enough for a little hat or booties to match.

I always try to buy one more than I think I will need (just in case). I figure that if I turn up short I want to make sure I have another of the same dye lot. And if I have extra, I can always make a cute hat or something to go with it. At the very least, it can go into my "extras" pile that will someday be turned into a patchy blanket.

Another thought -- if you have some wool in your stash that would coordinate w/ the color you want to order, you could use that for the waistband and cuffs, then I bet one skein would be enough. But I'm with maeve, better safe than sorry.

One more thing -- Laura, I had to go back and look again because those longies are so beautiful. How did you get the legs to be the exact perfect length? Did you measure from the waist or the inseam? It seems like I did a better job measuring from the waist, but it could've been luck.
