Fleece & Micro Fleece

What fleece do you use to make dipaer covers out of? DH wants me to make a pair for DS and I saie I would try.

I foundsome Micro Fleece that I really like. Is it typically pricey? (Regularly $14.99 a yard)

I see the reference to Maiden Mills often - is this fleece and/or micro fleec that the moms talk about?

Finally - approximately - one pair of pants and possibly a soaker from a yard (58" wide)?

Thanks mamas! You are lots of help to me!

my understanding was that you need polar fleece to make covers with as m/fleece is too thin. M/fleece can be used however as the inner (ie the part against your baby's skin) in a pocket diaper as it functions as a stay dry liner, allowing moisture/wee to wick onto the absorbent insert.

someone will correct me if i'm wrong...

Malden Mills is the company that makes the fleece that most WAHM diaper covers are made out of. It is also used for a lot of clothing too. It is so popular because it wears well and resists pilling. You can use micro for inners. For a diaper cover you will want at least 200 wt but this will really only work for a light wetter and you can expect some compression wicking. A 2 layer 200 wt cover would work but ti will be bulky. 300 wt, windpro and windbloc would all be acceptable for covers. Most WAHMs are using windpro. If you find windpro but it is a lightweight windpro you will need to use 2 layers also.

has a co-op going on for tons of different malden mills fleeces. They run about $6 - $8 a yard before shipping - awesome prices! There's lots of yummy red liteweight windpro available. You have to join her yahoo group to participate. I've done buisness with Mary before and she's really great to work with.
