Feb mamas chat for Sept. 20-26 - Page 7

Well, assuming that I don't chicken out at the last minute tomorrow, i'm wearing to work, for the very FIRST time, a noticably Maternity blouse. One of those cutsie, ties under the boobs and flares kinda tops. I sort of feel like this is the equivalent of turning on a neon sign above my head that says "pregnant" and blinks. don't get me wrong, all my immediate coworkers know, but its the security guard, the cleaning lady, the people in the cafeteria, the random people who sit near me that i know in passing, yadda yadda yadda....

I have very mixed feelings on this. part of me is torked that no one has noticed my pregnancy on their own yet, and i want them to, but the other part of me is a bit weirded out about advertising. Does that make any sense at all??

Hey Traci - I feel like i've totally sprouted a belly since last Monday - just like you said,. it just has kind of show up.

Well Heck! Joy get posting a new picture...I want to see your new "popped" belly!!!

I think we need to do lunch again soon

Don't chicken out. Wear that shirt loud and proud tomorrow. It's your first baby...show him/her off

Joy, wear it loud and proud!!! Chances are the security guard and cleaning lady have been asking each other if you're getting fat :

Shannon! :LOL You're too funny. How are those boobs doing?

Joy, I can totally relate -- I do feel at a kind of "awkward stage" where people are probably trying to "guess" if I'm pregnant or just gaining weight. I do want to show off my beautiful buddha belly (and I'm getting better at it) but I'm also a bit shy about it at the same time. Hope it goes well at work today.

Monica -- glad to see you're home safe and sound. I hope your family is able to tolerate Jeanne -- ugh! I feel for Florida...

Baby is kicking up a storm right now -- I love it!

So, are any of you ladies taking childbirth classes? My m/w suggested we start looking into them and I'm feeling a bit conflicted. I think it would be good for dh, but I worry that it will interfere with my intuition (I tend to overthink things!).
I'll probably do it -- couldn't hurt, right?

We're doing a weekend class. It's taught by a nurse who works at the hospital. I'm doing it more for dh than me (especially since my chances of c-section are very high) I asked around and this woman is apparently fairly humerous and spends alot of time on how dad can help mom post partum-especially with breast feeding.
Molly has been very active too, especially last night. I'm a little disapointed though, when I put my hand on my belly, she instantly settles down, I'd really like to feel her from the outside.
So does anyone have any thoughts, if the baby is being particularily active, say after you eat a specific thing or while listening to loud music, does that mean she likes what you are doing--or is she telling me to knock it off so she can sleep??

Oh and the boobs are feeling better but they are still discoloured, very weird indeed. I will ask the OB about it tomorrow--ahh, then she will have seen all my private body parts, oh well, I hate secrets!

:LOL That's so funny, ya know I always thought it meant the baby liked what I was doing but your latter thought actually makes a lot more sense!!!

Yes! That is a good question! I've heard that babies who aren't so active tend to be more content -- but who knows?
My baby is sooooo active in the car and I like to think he/she likes the motion, but maybe he/she is saying "get me the hell out of here!" Shannon, my babe immediately stops when I put my hand on my belly, too. I asked my m/w how my dh could feel the movement so early and she said to drink a glass of cold water and lie on my stomach with my dh's hand under me. We tried it, but it didnt' work. I tend to think babies DON'T like cold liquids which is why they would move...sooo back to our original topic!

Darn, this could mean she doesn't like to have Shaggy blaring in the truck I told dh the other day that we couldn't listen to his music cause Molly likes Shaggy better!

Well, my feelings on this are "If momma's happy, then baby's happy!" I've heard that babies don't like loud music, but if it makes me happy then baby must like it too! That's my rationalization!

Shannon, Heve, Lesley, and others -- I just started a ttc reunion thread on the I'm Pregnant board. Hopefully we'll hear from some of our former comrades!
