MM fleece help!

I bought a remnant bag of fleece from MM. I got a bunch of thick fleece, and one long remnant of thin fleece. I figure this is micro since it is thin and smoother on one side than the other. I tried to make a pocket dipe, similar to fb, with the thin as the inside layer and the thick as the outside layer. I put the smooth side of fleece toward the baby, like the fb. Well, even after washing the inside is still repelling. When I pull out the stuffer, I find it completely dry except for the part that sticks out of the back of the dipe. Is this the fleece, did I do it wrong side to baby, will more washing help or am I screwed?

bump, no one has any advice?

What type of fleece was included in your remnant bag? Is it possible that there were some waterproof fleece remnants included? That's the only thing I could think of. Good luck!

I don't think it is the wrong side of the fleece, I have used microfleece the 'wrong' way before and it still wicked. I am wondering if it is the fleece, if it isn't a lightweight windpro or something. With remnants, you just don't know what you have. You can still use it as a cover. Maybe surf the MM website, they have pretty good descriptions of everything they produce. If you want, I can send you a sample of what I know is MM microfleece for comparison. Just PM me.

Sorry, not very much help.

Agree, there really is no way to know what's in the bags. They have really thin 'windpro' that would appear like a micro, unless you really know fleece.

I'm pre testing my remnant bag with a cotton diaper laid under a test piece, and putting a leaky 'ballon' on the fleece to simulate the weight and water a baby will put on it.

I've been wanting to ask someone who has bought a remnant bag if they were happy with their purchase...it is an awful lot of fleece to buy at one time. Any opinions?

The weird thing is that I looked at the website right after I got my bag and they said that they had been removing all the tech fleece like Windpro from the remnant bags over the last year so that they could sell tech only remnant bags. I assumed then that my bag wouldn't have any windpro or anything.

In response to your question Jessica, I thought it was a great price. I am so happy with my bag, got TONS of fabric in long pieces. Others have gotten smaller pieces with more variety (mine was all black and red) and seemed just as happy. $35 ppd is a really good price for everything you get. They have a pic of the size of the bags on the website. They are huge! I can easily make a pair of pj pants for every member of my family w/o worrying about using it all. I'll definitely get it again.

i'd wash it on hot a handful of times and give it a chance -- maybe the sizing's just strong stuff?

and if that doesn't work, I'd call it a swim diaper or a cover.

It sounds like a good deal...I don't know if I could find that many uses for fleece! Well, I probably could

I second, that it's a GREAT deal. I love what I got!

My neighbor just paid a LOT for a pair of running pants made from fleece...I looked at them and was like, hehe...I can make a pair for every day of the week, and a matching top, gloves, hat, over jacket...

I'm doing diaper wraps with mine and making Fuzzi Bunz soaker inserts based on the Polar Baby style insert: One side fleece, one side thick hemp/cotton fleece. You'd think the extra fleece is redundant, but it really makes them super absorbant!

I guess if you got a bag of all brown or some other color you don't really like, it might not be worth the $$ to you, but then you could make up some mamma pads or liners or something you don't have to look at! Or a blanket for the couch or a homeless shelter...Really, for $35 and shipping and handling included, it's an amazing deal!

I bought a remnant bag to use while I learn to sew. It was great. I have so much fleece and I'm not afraid to use it. The stuff I'm not sure of is being turned into blankets and pants and the other stuff, for HB dipes. I lucked out and only got two small pieces of pink(we have an all boy household) but was able to make a baby gift from it. One of the pieces has a shiny back to it. I'm not really sure what it is. Anyone have an idea?? I thought I would try to make a Halloween
costume out of it. It looks wind proof?
It really was a great deal.

mattjule, if it's the 100 series, water (or pee) should go through it.
Put the thin layer onto a diaper, put your hand over it, and then pour the water. It should go through from the compression.

You can send a swatch of it to Rose and ask her to identify it for you.
