Sudden decrease in milk production - on ONE side!

OK, I'd like to say I'm pretty seasoned with the whole breastfeeding game. I'm on my second daughter, and she's seven months old now. I never had probs w/ dd#1 (besides a clogged duct at 7 mo.s), and dd#2 has been going smoothly too - until now. A couple days ago it seems my right boob has practically stopped producing milk. Oh, it produces a LITTLE, but not much. My left is doing ok, but the right just doesn't have anything going on. This has been going on for about three days now. I was really engorged overnight on the right side a few nights ago (not unusual), then nursed the baby in the morning with that side, and since then, I haven't been really producing milk over there. I've been starting Ava on the right side every time since sucking supposedly is what makes you produce the milk, but she usually gets disgruntled pretty quickly when she doesn't get much. Then she just stops sucking all together, unlatches . . . and it's all over for that side. I just don't know WHAT'S going on. Any suggestions? I was stung by a bee the first morning this all started on my right arm, and I thought maybe there was some sort of coorelation between the bee venom in my right arm and milk production in my right boob (stretching it here - I know), but I searched on the net and didn't find anything relating the two, so that's probably a dead end.

TIA -

that same thing happened to me.

I have two children as well, and my second one is also 7 months old today

Anyway, back on the subject. do you cosleep? because I notice that because I cosleep, I dont realize sometimes that I nurse ds on one side too many times and then I get lopsided (which is what happened to you) I have a good breast and a bad breast, like I call them :LOL my good breast has between a medium and low amount of milk producing tissue, and the "bad" breast is great at making milk, but also good at getting mastitis and getting engorged. So I nurse ds from the "good" breast a lot more now, that way I increase production on the smaller side and it will not get engorged anyway (even if I am making tons of milk from that side) If you are cosleeping, try waking a bit more when you nurse to make sure you dont offer that "bad" breast again and again like I have.
