Fern & Faerie Pants Help

Hi all. I just started knitting the F&F soaker pants and I had a question for anyone whose done it. Actually 2 questions. I'm pretty sure tha I calculated my numbers for the pattern correctly, but my waist band looks pretty small. Has anyone else encountered this? It could be because I'm using worsted weight and I've been using bulky lately, but I'm not sure. My second question is.... Do I have to use DPN's on the legs, or could I use 12" or 16" circulars instead? I've never used DPN's before and the thought of all those needles makes me a little nervous.

The waistband will look small, because it is ribbed and pulls in quite a bit. If your number of stitches x your st/inch equals the hip measurement you're using, you did your math correctly.
The legs will have to be done on dp needles unless you can find sock-circular needles, or know how to do magic loop technique.

I'm hopefully going to learn Magic Loop soon. I'm taking Pam's Wooly Wonder Pants class right now.(Which is great, for anyone who wants to learn to knit pants!) So I'll just use that. Are sock circulars 12"?

I just learned how to do magic loop yesterday and it is pretty easy. I did the two circs method for a few rows first, which I also liked. Either one would work great for pant legs.

I think sock circulars are more like 6". They're TINY. I've never used them, though.

I've used 16" circulars on pant legs before that were 10" around (addi turbos and bamboo), and I've used 12" circulars on pant legs that were newborn sized (7") (also addi turbos).

I prefer to knit one pant leg at a time because I just can't wrap my head around magic loop. The addi turbos have such a stretchy cord that it's easy to knit something that is a lot smaller than the actual circumference of the needles.

I use 12" circulars on pant legs. They work just fine!
