Another Circular needles question..

If you have 17" circ needles and the pattern calls for 16" needles can you use the 17" needles or would it throw everything off..

I'm sure it'd be fine, especially if the piece you're working on is bigger around than 16". Strange that there even is such a thing as 17" circs.
