How do some of you get to be so wise, so grounded and comfortable with yourselves? I feel I have so many lessons to learn in life. I start out with good intentions then I get overwhelmed and give up. How have some of you risen above that and/or muddled through the rough patches to get where you are?
I would love to hear some success stories.

I know I'm not perfect and don't have it all figured out, but what I've found is that learning something new is very exciting, at first. As I begin to gather information, I immerse myself in the subject and love all the new information. Then as I find out just how much information there is, and I worry that I will never figure it out, I get overwhelmed and wonder if I should back off. If it's something that really means a lot to me (information about raising my son, for example) I keep going and find that just on the other side of overwhelming I find what works for me. Once I've found what works for me, I find that the rough patches are easier to deal with. I do still have doubts sometimes, but I've done the research and I'm comfortable with my decisions.

I don't know if this will help you at all. I'm very confident in my parenting choices and, although there's always room for improvement, I feel that I'm doing a great job being a mom to my 5yo son.

One minute/moment at a time! And if I'm not at my best, I am aware and see it, change it as there is only now (does this make any sense to you?) Be gentle with yourself, the starting point is awareness and you already are aware of a cyclical pattern you have. Begin NOW.

It's all in those lessons I tell ya!

Seriously though, don't feel as though wisdom is something mysterious, its not

Wisdom is our Known applied with Love. IAm is sooo right: be gentle with youself. We all make mistakes and learning is something that NEVER ends!! There is no "when I learn all this stuff then I will be wise". No. Wisdom *is* learning.

It took me a long time to go from being mostly negative to mostly positive. For me, negative got tiring....and was always disrupting my life. I believe life's what you focus on and create. So, I started focusing on what I could change about myself, my world, accepted others for what they are, etc... And found a general balance with it all.

I think awareness is one of the biggest keys... Simply being aware of what you say, how you say it, and your actions.

I am certainly no "wise-woman" but I think focusing on the positive really helps, I find myself catching myself and re-phrasing ... like "dd, it will help with your energy and patience" instead of "dd, it will help with the fatigue and irritability"

i'm in process, as are we all.

the hugest thing for me is who i surround myself with. i am blessed to have a lot of fabulous people that i call family who are like-minded enough to 'get' me, yet diverse and different enough that i don't get too comfortable or 'cultish'. (although if i figure out the right cult, i'm SO there! )
