I got my wheel home tonight.

There she sits, in the living room, waiting...

Maybe tomorrow after I vacuum and get the rest of the housework caught up (yeah right!), I'll be able to spin a yard or two. Otherwise she'll continue to wait patiently until I've recuperated enough.

I need to restart the spool anyway. I want to spin a bunch of S twist so I can try the Bosnian Crochet from the last issue of SpinOff that I got a few weeks back.

Woo! What kind of wheel did you get? What's Bosnian crochet? I haven't checked out a Spin-Off in a while.

CONGRATS on your new wheel! Isn't it exciting? I hope you're feeling better and spinning soon!

Actually I did do the housework. We had a delivery of an entertainment center today, so I Had to vacuum and get it all cleared out. We now have a living room that doesn't look like it's in a couple of college kids' apartment.

Bosnian Crochet is, as far as I can tell, single crochet only. You do chain stitches in either the front or back half of the loop to get two different effects--sort of like knit or purl in knitting. It's also only done in the round. According to the article in SpinOff, the fabric so made has more of a sheen if the singles yarn you use is S twist instead of the more usual Z. I'll have to make something with the Z twist I have, such as it is--lots of slubs due to my inexperience--then make the same item with the S twist and see if I see a difference.

Forgot! I have no idea what make/brand this wheel is. There are no markings on it anywhere that I can find, only "Thumbelina" and "hing" on the bulk spinhead that came with it. It's a small castle style wheel with 3 legs, single treadle, nice wood--the wheel itself is one piece of wood, not pieced together like many I've seen. I'm debating personalizing it with a bit of paint...
