well I brought him into the doc (who is shall we say to be on the nice side obviously circed), it saddened me a great deal because he has been in practice for well over 10 years and I think my sons are the first intact children he has worked with...he just seemed rather out of place lol. Anyway my mom who is the nurse there performed a culture (she circed my brother so my kids are the first intact boys she has seen up close and personal, when she did this culture she did move his foreskin back very slightly (I watched VERY closely to be sure she didn't do anything stupid) she didn't go any further than I see him go on a regular basis, still though I wonder was that necessary? or should she have just swabbed the exposed end and let it be at that? I shoudl have asked this yesterday....). Anyway before the culture they are there and want me to as they say "pull back" his foreskin so they can see whats going on, to which I replied "there is no need to retract it, if you want to see more you can ask him and he can show you" my son is 5 (slightly speech delayed) but nonetheless able to have control of his own penis....so he pulled it back a tiny bit for them (this kid has a very tight foreskin, he pees fine and can pull it back some, but I am pretty sure he will be one of those kids who cannot fully retract until puberty hits). So the doc acts all concerned and asks if he can pull his forskin back enough so you can see the head of his penis (so I exaggerated a bit), I told him yes (in reality the most of have ever seen on my eldest is just the very tip, my 3 year old have much more give that he does, but I figure in time he will as will and this guy doesn't know his stuff so I lets say "erred on the side of caution")....so the doc says to me "well thats good, as long as he can pull it all the way back then theres certianly no need to circ him" I was like WTF? I can't believe the guy even thought for one second that I would allow him to circ my son! Took me a minute to regain myself after that and I responded with "obviously not! some kids can't retract until they are well into there teens, there is no way you would circ him" man.....I almost went into a huge rant but I just let it slide, I am just very glad I have the knowledge as to how to care for my sons....strange that I even being a woman seem to know more about my son's penis than a man does LOL.
Anyway, the culture results will be in Monday until then he told me to get some cortisone cream and put it on there twice a day, does that sound like an o.k. thing to do? with his cluelessness I hesitate to do anything with this cream until I hear from all of you. I let the doc and my mom know that I "am in contact with the experts"
that being all of you. So let me know if that sounds right....I would assume that on Monday they will give me something to treat the specific problem.
Thanks in advance....it boggles my mind at how uneducated the medical community is when it comes to caring for (as I said to my mom earlier) a "real penis" they care just fine for one thats all cut up but give them a penis the way God made them and they get all flustered....
