I just want to say......

that, unfortunately, it takes a rare man to stand up for his son and break the cycle of violence.

So, to my dh and all of the other rare men out there, I applaud you.

I wish my brother could have been that kind of man.

I agree - it takes a special kind of inner strength to acknowledge the harm done to you by refusing to allow your son to be harmed - so kudos to all of your dh's who found that inner strength!

I just want to cry when I think about all those babies whose fathers do NOT have that strength. Who cannot face the fact that someone important was taken for them, and who (as part of their denial) allow that same thing to be taken from their son(s).

I'm feeling it especially, today, because I'm fairly certain my friend's little boy just lost the fight to keep his genital integrity. The mom knows how I feel, and would have told me if they'd left him intact. She didnt' say anything, so I knew better than to ask...

Sorry to hijack - I am just so sad right now.

My hat is off to all of your dh's. They have an inner strength that I wish other men could find.

my DH too

.... and also to those men who care enough to risk being seen for caring so much about something so taboo in our society to reach out to other people.

to my dh too.
I knew where I stood, but left the decision ultimately up to him, and he made the right one.

Agreed!

I once told my husband what a brave and strong man he was for leaving our son intact. He didn't really seem to understand why I said that. *shrug*

to DH who ultimately left it to me to research and make the decision,

but to DS#1 who was mutilated and forgave me and is now very vocal with his friends who are having babies. He makes them watch a video and hammers at them
