my daughter had caps put on about a year & half ago.. she is 3 1/2 now

her breath has stunk the last few months.. its awfull sometimes..

she has no allergies .. or sinus problems.. hasent ever had a cold..is healthy

just stinky breath

one of her teeth is loose.. Ive been waiting on it to tighten back up.. figuring she hit it .. but it hasent happened..

it dosent look discolored.. its a composite crown.. so you can kinda see the tooth under it with a light

I hate to take her back to the dentist.. she HATES it there.. Ive just been hoping she would be one of those kids to loose their baby teeth early & we could start over with perm teeth..

but now im afraid something could be going on that could cause her perm teeth to have trouble..

what else could be causing the stinkyness? Im pretty sure she dosnt have diabetes .. she shows no signs of it...

unfortunately, yes, teeth can decay under the caps if they weren't properly cleaned out before the caps were placed on. it doesn't happen very often, but it can happen.

you might want to at least call the dentist, and it probably would be a good idea to get her in to see him sometime soon, just in case. (of course, it could always just be nothing at all, i'm not a medical professional, but i did have a friend whose tooth decayed under the cap)

sorry to be the bearer of bad news! hope everything works out!

Do you brush her tongue? Lots of stinky bacteria builds up there!

Also, the bacteria that was on her decayed teeth before capping remains in the mouth. Depending on your brushing routine, it could be creating more decay if you haven't reduced the bacteria.

Kids attitudes and cooperation can change with age at the dentist. It would be very wise to be going every 6 months to make sure nothing else is happening that you can't see.

If indeed, there is decay happening under the cap, it will eventually be in the nerve area and you could end up with a big infection. Not something to wait and see about IMO.
