Bovine Equipment

Earlier today I stated that bulls do not have foreskins... I was wrong.

I made this point because of the common misconception of the SHEATH of a typical quadraped mammal (usually a furry pouch which covers the penis when the animal retracts his penis inside his body) being synonomous to the human foreskin... this would be a mistake- the sheath of an animal's penis is not a part of their erection the way that the foreskin becomes incorporated into the surface of the penis in a human. An animal's sheath is behind the penis (and vulva) during intercourse- whereas the foreskin sheath of a human is infront or inside during intercourse. If the human penis could shrink back into the abdomon and be enveloped by a pouch of fuzzy skin at the pubic mound- that would be analogous to the external sheath of an animal.

Because of "dog dick" insults- I am quick to criticise parallels drawn between other animal and human anatomy.

I found this depiction of a dissection of a bull's reproductive organs, and indeed- beyond the furry external sheath- a bull actually does have a foreskin at the tip of his penis which covers his glans!

www.wisc.edu/ansci_repro/ lab/lab2/lab2ex2002.html

I have no idea if a dog, like a bull, has a prepuce which covers his glans... and I am not about to try that search.

So anyway- Quirky- I still disagree with you- the sheath of an animal is not the same as a foreskin... but now I know that at least one other mammal does indeed have a prepuce at the glans... so I am glad you disagreed with me- to prompt me to look it up. I have seen bull parts out in the pasture- and it just looked like simple shiny pink stick to me- I make a point of keeping my distance!

Appoligies~!

OK, good to know! I knew that all mammals have them, I just wasn't up on the fine (or gross) anatomical details. And I'm not even going to click on the link to educate myself.

Sarah I just have to say I really appreciate your humor, thoroughness, compassion, and dedication to genital integrity. In the past sometimes I would react with "Woah" to some of your posts but I have come to enjoy your eloquence.

Very interesting - I had no idea they had both.

And that is the longest, skinniest penis I have ever seen.

I think it is time for me to post my favorite poem:

Odgen nash of course- and please- sorry about punctuation- this is from memory.

Behold the hippopotamus
We laugh at how he looks to us-
and yet in moments dank and grim
we wonder how we look to him.
peace peach thou hippopotamus,
we really look alright to us
and you - no doubt
delight the eye
of other hippopotami.

LOL! Yep, compared to humans, they are at the least, remarkable. However, if you look at the bull and how he and the hefer are built, it is obvious that the design is perfect for this animal. If you look at the great apes, it's remarkable that they are so small for their size but they also work perfectly. If you look at a dog, it's easy to see that the sheath is designed for protection while running through the scrub and as an aiming mechanism to help the dog hit his female target and is perfectly designed for the dog's need and environment. Fish have a "penis" in a fashion that they can swivel around forward and back and side to side at will. Again, perfectly designed for the purpose and environment. I've always wondered how people can believe that every other animal can have the prefect design for their situation but in all of the animal kingdom, only one specie would be defective and need surgery at birth to correct those deficits.

The truth is that the human penis is just as well designed as the penis of any other animal. That surgery they insist on just hampers that perfection and design and makes it less efficient.
