Many may think this is silly. I am mourning my father in laws dog Stormy. She was an 11 year old short haired Chow Chow. Many people see Chows as a very aggressive dogs who aren't meant to be a part of a family. Stormy was an ambassador for the breed. My DH gave Stormy to FIL when she was 8 weeks old. FIL wanted a dog and asked DH to get him one for his birthday. She was a "truck dog" for most of her life with my FIL. (18 wheeler) She rode with him all over the US and Canada many times over. Meeting new people everyday and never acted mean or unfriendly towards anyone. She quit riding the truck about 2 years ago when her hips hurt her too much to jump in or out of the truck. I had the honor of meeting her twice in the past 2 years. I spent a lot of time with her when FIL and SMIL were here visiting. She really enjoyed being brushed and petted and i was happy to do it. Calm and dignified all the time. 6 Granddaughters and 2 grandsons have crawled on her and learned to walk pulling up on her fur. She developed a tumor on her jaw about 2 weeks ago. It grew FAST and was headed towards her brain at a high rate. FIL made the very hard decision to have her put to sleep last week. She had quit eating and was in pain. The tumor was growing too fast to be treatable. I miss her so much eventhough i wasn't around her for any great period of time. That is how special she was. She is greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The old trucker who was her friend (FIL)now cries everytime she is spoke of.
If you can find a little time please think of him and wish him an ease in his pain soon.
Thank you for letting me share this.

dogs are the truest expressions of love on this planet. Just pure, uncomplicated, unconditional love. I'm sorry to hear of such a sweet one passing.
