Tivo anyone? - Page 2

Unless you get the DirecTivo you can't record two things at the same time. Which our DVR will do because it has two tuners. But that isn't much of an issue for me because with Tivo if I have recording scheduling conflict it tells me all the other times it's going to air. I don't have to know what dates and channel and time or search for them. It will show me all of them on one screen. So I just switch to record at a time that doesn't conflict. And we don't watch live tv anymore so it doesn't matter if it's recording to me.

With Tivo I just go into Now Playing while the show is recording and watch from the begining no rewinding needed. Something I find extremely annoying about our DVR is the requirement to rewind it on live tv because it will not allow you to access the recording in the List while it's still recording.
We got the DVR because my had a hard time adjusting from channel surfing. He is an unrepentant live tv watching channel surfer. I only watch to see what I want not for background noise or boredom. So it doesn't effect me.

journeymom--I'm the same way! I am constantly trying to rewind when I'm listening to NPR and getting irked when I realize that I can't.

We have the DirectTV version of Tivo. It's called Ultimate TV but is made by Tivo. My in-laws have Tivo as well, but it's (I think) what's sold in the stores. I like ours MUCH better. It just seems more intuitive. Either way, there's no way I would go back to watching regular TV.

I do this in the car!!! I go to "rewind" what the DJ or talk show host just said! I've got to get out more.

I love my Tivo. I was so against getting one a couple of years ago, now I can't imagine life without it. How scary.
