Rescue Remedy Okay before dental sedation?

My 21 month old is scheduled for an iv sedation on thurday (has been moved up from october, there was a cancellation), she has several cavities and we will seal some others. She went through an emotional trauma in April with a head injury and she is so fearful of dentists and doctors, I feel this is our best route.

Anyway, does anyone know if it okay to give Rescue Remedy or the like before her procedure (it is an in office iv sedation w/ the anesthesiogist). She will have to fast for 4 hours. Anyone? BTW, I am so nervous, I know she can sense it, anything to give me? RR, too? One good thing, I am with her the whole entire time!

Yes! Your child will only be getting a few tiny drops of the remedy in her mouth-- hardly enough to create a problem with sedation. And, Yes, rescue remedy is wonderful for you too. If you have a concern about the liquid remedy for your child, you can use the cream: rub some on the wrists, forehead, temples- anywhere you feel would be helpful, including on the spot they will use for the IV.
Good luck!!

Just want to second what stevee said - RR is great stuff. My vet even uses it, they have the drops and some diluted in a spray bottle. I give some to my rottie before I take her in and she is so well behaved (which is totally unusual).

My son had to go to the ER when he was 4 days old and my midwife went with us. As it took the "doctors" 1/2 hour to put in an IV, she gave me and dh and ds RR - ds fell right asleep.

I also had surgery recently, and my surgeon said "don't tell anyone" and had me take homeopathic arnica the morning of surgery.

good luck at the dentist!

I know, I have small veins, so it always sucks for me. But I think it was really hard on a 4 day old baby, plus the #$*@&#!ers in the ER all wanted a try at it before they called down an expert from NICU. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
