As far as Unschooling..........maybe I am too much ingrained in school, but how do they learn things that they should learn by adulthood? Such as gov't, math, sciences, etc, if there are not any (even loosely structured) lessons on them? How do you go about having them learn these without teaching it?

I can only speak from my point of view here.....
I don't believe that every kid needs all of that stuff. I truly believe if they do need it, they will set about to learning it when it becomes necessary or important. It's so true that every kids is different, and every kid will not need the same information/education. I have never needed calculus in my lifetime. If I did I would get to it I have not needed chemistry, or advanced animal science either.. but a student planning on a career in vet. medicine probably would and therefore would go learn it.

If it is isn't relevant, exciting, important, necessary, or otherwise useful to my life currently why care? I surely do not, and I dont expect my kids to either. Just my .02
