Recommendations for good quality microscope

My ds is showing interest in getting a microscope. Does anyone out there have one that they love? Has anyone done research on which ones are best?

How old is he? I can recommend different ones depending on age.

gilnikche-He's seven years old. However, intellectially he's more like a thirteen year old. So I guess it would need to be something that he could do simple things with but that will last him in the future. Thanks!
