Okay, okay, flame me if you must, but I like this show! Any other fans? Who should go this week?

I want to see Nikki stay, because she seems like she'd be a kick-ass indie-rocker. That's my style, baby! Justin seems like he could do some awesome retro (is that the right word?!) music... I'm looking at these people for the style they could bring to the music industry, and I'm not interested in Kelly, Christina, Tamyra, or RJs style (although, I must admit they're all good singers... better than I could be, that's for sure!). I don't like Kelly's attitude, though (the way she attacked Nikki on live TV a month or two back). I just haven't been able to let that go.

So, who would you like to see WIN American Idol?

I voted for Kelly and then read your post - I don't remember that one but I missed a couple episodes right after the first one... I just like her voice and the songs she has picked so far. Justin sings pretty good, but he is just weird lookin'! I think my 2nd pick would be Tamyra or Nikki - I don't like Christina, she sings like a sheep, and RJ is just lame (like Simon said - backstreet boy yes, american idol no). I love this show! and I think Simon is ok too, sometimes a bit harsh but at least he is honest... and kinda sexy.

I agree, Justin looks unusual, but it's that quirky eccentric style, and the look that sticks in your head that makes him a good candidate for being the "American Idol".

I don't like Christina's vibrata at all.

Tamyra, although a good singer, beautiful, and stylish, doesn't have that eccentric personality that I crave. As soon as she's off the stage, I've forgotten her.

And, R.J..... oh, he's so adorable! Yeah, he seems more like boy band material than American Idol. He has one of those faces that could make it really big in TV and movies, though. I wouldn't doubt it if we'd see more of him after this.

I sooooo have a crush on Simon. *drool* I love his cruel tactless honesty. He's hot. And his simple style..... yum.

Okay, so who watched tonight's show? Doesn't it seem kind of suspicious that Christina had a nervous breakdown just hours before the show? They claim they don't tell the people the results before it goes live, but Christina didn't do so horrible last night... I wouldn't have assumed she'd be the one to go (although I was secretly hoping it would be her).

What do you think? Was Christina told before the show that she was the next to go?

Journey, you fancy SImon? Ok. Humm... I admire his honesty and everything, but that's as far as it goes.. heehee! Each to their own. I just think it's funny how some Americans take his sarcastic sense of humour so seriously- a bit like with Anne Robinson (Weakest Link). British humour doesn't translate I suppose.

For the record, I think Kelly should win. She is consistent and has a good presence. Justin gets on my nerves- that hair, that smile, that utter shmoooooze. Yuck. RJ= boyband. Nikki is too wimpy and Tamyra has a great voice but not much personality. Gosh I'm harsh.

I really don't like Simon, I think he's a pig.

I have only watched one episode (didn't even know about American Idol till recently...heard ppl talking about it and was like WHAT??)...the most recent one where Christina was voted off. I too think it was coincidence that Christina wasn't there the day she was voted off. But watching the show, they put alot of pressure on these singers. The way they go to commercial RIGHT when it's time to reveal the results. I'm sorry but I just couldn't take that if I were one of the singers waiting to see if I was going to stay or leave.

Just from watching that one show, I have no clue who I want to win. They didn't perform. They just gave the results. I do remember Nikki from Popstars a few years back.

Journey-- I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO curious. What happened between Kelly and Nikki? Why did Kelly attack Nikki? Mind recapping?

The thing between Kelly and Nikki, was on the plane out there, Nikki was sitting and mingling with a lot of the other contestants. They were being loud and boisterous, and Kelly said something to the effect that she was embarassed of being associated with the other American Idols, and that she was better than them. That attitude left a bad taste in my mouth. She brought up the incident on live TV, basically calling Nikki obnoxious, when it wasn't just Nikki, but a bunch of contestants who were talking loudly and excitedly. C'mon, now... wouldn't you be a bit excited if you were flying out to LA to try out to be the next American Idol?! Anyways, Kelly started this, and brought up all her pent up anger at Nikki on LIVE TV. If she had a problem with Nikki, she could've kept it off the show. Nikki showed more class by not showing her hostility against Miss-I'm-Better-Than-You, although she made it clear she didn't like Kelly's attitude, or the fact that she was just bringing this up on live TV.

Ahhhh...thanks for the clarification Journey.

I watched it tonight. It was the first performance episode I have seen. I liked Kelly and Tamyra's performances. They were stellar...especially Tamyra. I think hers was the best. Justin was pretty good to but it just didn't hit me like the Kelly and Tamyra's did. R.J. was good but again I just didn't get goosebumps from it. There were times when he seemed to be straining to hit the note. I liked his ending though. He really hit that. Nikki however didn't have a good night. I really don't think this was her type of music. She seems more rock-y so I really don't think this is her show since they seem to be more pop and ballad-ish (though I have only seen this one performance episode).

The judges--I was really beginning to think that Paula Abdul couldn't say anything constructive. Everyone's performance was "good". I remember saying "Her opinion wouldn't mean anything to me cuz she says the same thing to everyone." until she told Nikki that she didn't like her performance (though she did say it nicely). I must say that Simon needs to learn to be less harsh. It seems he has favorites. He's in love with Kelly and Tamyra and sings them praises over and over again while just bashing poor R.J. and Nikki.

Though I didn't think Nikki's performance was good at all (it was very flat), I think the judges need to realize how hard it is for them to stand up in front of them and take the criticism that they do. The judges were just harsh with her. When the credits started at the end of the show, they cut to Nikki's son Tristen and he was bawling. Poor little guy probably realized how mean they were being to his mom and how hurt she probably was. (She did seem embarrassed and on the verge of tears).

So anyways, thought I'd come and critique the show since it was my first time watching the performances.

I would like for Tamyra or Kelly to win. They have the zest and voice to be an American Idol. Justin's cool too. RJ just doesn't do anything for me and Nikki would do better to be an indie rocker than an American Pop Idol.

anyone surprised by last nights results? I thought for sure Nikki was out... probably next week, eh?
I was shocked that Nikki stayed. I wonder if people voted for her because the judges were so mean to her. I felt awful when I saw her son crying, poor little guy!

I would really like to see Kelly win. She just seems so natural to me.

I thought for sure Nikki was going home too. In fact, before it came on my sister was like "there's no point in us even watching cuz we know who's going home." Guess not.

I think she will probably go home next week too.

Did you guys watch last night? I thought Kelly was amazing as usual. Nikki did really well too. Although I think she will still be the one to go.

What do you think?
I did watch last night. I thought Kelly, Justin and Nikki all did pretty well, Tamyra did OK. I think it will come down to Kelly and Justin and ? that's the big question.

Wow I didn't know Kelly had such an attitude. Too bad, she has a great voice. DH thinks she will ultimately win it.

I love Nikki's new hairdo. makes her look a lot healthier for some reason. Kelly needs to have her highlights done less blonde- it is too much of a stark contrast to her dark hair. Ok, now that I have my fashion police report finished (though I do a whole other one on justin alone...blah)....

Kelly should win. She has an amazing voice. Tamyra has a mysecond vote, though I think the judges rate her just a tad too highly. Justin is so puke-inducing- that hair- that smile.... Nikki is a cool rock chick but always sounds flat to me.

Wasn't Simon nice last night. He hardly had a bad word to say to any of them. And did Paula know she had a hat stuck on the side of her head. Just wondering...

I kinda watched last night...meaning I had it on but was doing other stuff at the time including hammering (was doing some building and repairing). We tried not to be quiet during the singing parts though.

I liked Nikki's choices...Mary Jane (think that's the title) and I'm The Only One. She sounded really good when she sang the first one. It was fabulous. The second one was almost as good. I do see what you mean though SDMommy...her voice does sound a bit flat compared to the others.

Justin was just ok. I don't see why everyone is making a big deal about him being a hearthrob. He doesn't do anything for me.

Tamrya did ok as well. She has a nice voice and picks ambitious songs.

Kelly is a good singer and she did really well. I think she will win and should win. She's been consistent (from what I have seen). Not only does she has the voice to be an "American Idol" she also has the personality. She is all bubbly. From what I have heard of her attitude, I don't like it but I still think she's in the best position to become the American Idol.

Does anyone besides me think that Paula Abdul's judging is moronic and patronizing? I mean, she might as well be each contestant's grandmother for the constructiveness of her commentary. Arrggh!

Although Nikki did much, much, better than usual, she is still just plain flat thru half of her songs. I think to be an the American Idol you have to sing more than two lines without going flat. Love her style,...her talent?....not so much.

I like Kelly quite a lot, but has she ever not belted out a song at the top of her lung capacity? Just a thought. She still get my vote as the best of the bunch.

It would be interesting to see how differently these performers would do in a studio setting with endless takes to hone the best possible performance. In that setting I would have to go on Kelly or Tamyra winning.

Delurking to say I liek Kelly out of who is left but believe if it is young teen girls voting, Justin is gonna win. IMO, he should stick to Broadway or Vegas...

FYI: If anyone else here lives in or near (like me) Philly, Justin will be signing autographs from 1-2 PM at City Hall tommorow. I am temepted to go to see who shows up...lol
post #19 of 47
Anyone else surprised to see Tamyra go tonight? I thought for sure Nikki...if not her Justing. But then again, I was going on talent and ppl calling in aren't voting based on that as said by bebesho2 (teen girls voting for Justin). Tamyra has a stellar voice but I guess the lack of a shining personality did her in. It's really too bad.

I missed it last night! What a shock, Tamyra!!!!! Wow, I can't believe that!

I think that it will come down to Justin and Kelly. If all the younger girls really do like Justin then I think he could win it. I don't get the attraction though. I think that he looks like Side Show Bob from the Simpsons :LOL
