17 days old!
I'm sooo tired! I think the most sleep I've gotten is 2 hours straight in the last 3 weeks. Trying to coordinate all 3 down for a nap (so I can take one) hasn't worked very well. David has had to go to Austin so much lately. He's only been home about 5 days since Aidan was born. Three of them the days right after he was born. All I wanted to do that first two weeks was sleep and nurse Aidan... didn't happen!
Haven't seen or heard from David's mom since the day she brought Tori and Jack back (third day after Aidan was born). And my mom, par for the course took Friday Oct 1 and all the next week off from work. To "come and help with the baby...", hmm let's see, she came by Friday the 1st for a while and then some on Wednesday the 6th. And that's it.
: And while she was on the phone with someone from work on Wed, she was playing up where she's been "all week". Okay coming over for a day isn't spending the week helping! She really spent the week at the kennel dealing with the Greyhounds. Guess they are more important than her grandchildren.
(Sorry that's a bit of a sore point for me right now!) Apparently she is "upset" that we are moving to Austin. Moving her grandchildren that she never spends time with away.
So instead of taking advantage of the time we are still here in Houston, she's sulking instead.
She was trying to convince David that the traffic in Austin is "sooo bad".
It is nothing compared to the traffic here.
Next week we are going to all go up (David's up there this week) and look at houses. He's suppose to scout out some this week. I'm hoping to get moved by the middle of November at the latest. Oh goodie packing... again!
Aidan is doing well. He decides he wants to be AWAKE within 20 minutes of my going to bed at night.
: He's really "woken" up the last couple of days. He's happy... if you are holding him.
But he's getting comfortable in the bouncy seat for a few minutes (so I can pee :LOL and take care of the other kids) and the swing for a little while.
Jack is still not totally sure about Aidan. He at least "loves" me again. He wouldn't have anything to do with me for the first couple of days. He was soo mad at me.
He finally kissed me again last night. He put his hands on both my cheeks and suddenly leaned in for a kiss. He's been "letting" me give him kisses on his cheek but that's the first time since Aidan was born that HE'S initiated a kiss. Got me all teared up.
Still calls me "Daddee" and not Mommy.
: Little stinkpot.
We don't co-sleep per se, except when I fall asleep nursing him and wake up 20-30 minuts later. :LOL I just can't sleep well when they are in the bed with me. I only really "snooze" not sleep. So he sleeps in the bassinet at the foot of our bed. Or out on the couch with David a couple of times. :LOL Aidan is sleeping in a t-shirt and diaper then "Baby Burritoed" with a flannel receiving blanket. He sleeps so much better when he's swaddled. I then take another receiving blanket and tuck it across him. He sleeps snuggled within a long "rice bag" sleeve that keeps him all cozy. Makes him think he's still sleeping in the crook of my arm. Once the weather cools off a bit more, we'll use the cotton sleepgowns or HannaAndersson zippers we have.
Why do they sleep so well in the weirdest head thrown back at an odd angle positions? :LOL :LOL
Yes, Aidan is a Flatulance King. :LOL
: :LOL He was laying on the changing table the other night, I had just finished changing him when he let out something similiar to a cannon going off. :LOl It was so loud, long and robust that he shook while it was happening. And the look on his face
matched mine. :LOL :LOL Aidan also prefers to have a "fresh canvas" as David puts it when he puts a clean diaper on him and Aidan lets loose. :LOL :LOL Aaah yes, the 2-3 diaper change.
Here's a couple of pics of my little guy
. These are all from the second day. I need to add some more.
I need to finish writing out his birth story too.
Bum is still a little sore here too. The herbal sitz bath is awesome. I got some of the stuff from Earth Mama Angel Baby
. Of course I haven't gotten to use it as often as I'd like. Hard to set aside 5-10 minutes when you are the only one around to watch the kids.
Nursing bras... I like my Bravados (easy snap closure). They don't give tons of support but they are comfortable. I just got a Yes! bra off eBay. It's reaaly nice! Very similiar to the Bravado. Username breastfeedingisbest
. I just ordered 2 Janes bras from the Blue Canoe co-op. Can't wait to get those!
Glad to hear all the babies are getting better and over their colds. Babies and cold are so nerve-racking!
I used the "Soothies" (are they green 'gel') when I was pumping with Tori. They were awesome. I still have them but I think some of the liquid as evaporated. They aren't very squishy now. :LOL I made a pair using some terry cloth and filled them with some rice. They are working really well. I use them when I'm trying to pump. They help when the "Boobage" is feeling a bit sore. You can heat them in the microwave or stick them in the freezer.
Anyone else feel like they gave birth to a lizard? :LOL Aidan has been peeling since day one! Tori and Jack both peeled for a couple of days but they were both about a week old when it happened. Aidan has peeled and peeled and peeled. Everytime I turn around... he's got another little peel spot. His skin especially his feet
: was so dry when he was born, I was obviously dehydrated. And he just got that newborn white pimple bump face yesterday.
His poor little nose and cheeks. I hope he doesn't end up with skin issues.
